I’m No Geek

by Gee Why on November 7, 2008

in Uncategorized

Are you a hardcore geek (or even a mild one)? Take Gizmodo’s quiz of 50 skills geeks must have to see how you rate.
I didn’t even finish the quiz with some truly geeky skills needed, therefore proving that I am not a geek. Although I do know how to watch TV shows on [...]

What can one trillion dollars get you? A whole that’s what. Even though this site looks at how the cost of the Iraq War could have been spent on other things, there’s an online simulator to see what you can get for a cool trillion.
Wanna buy the Yankees and the Mets? You’d [...]

Sonya Walger plays Penny Widmore on LOST and Michelle Dixon on Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Never really saw an actor belong on two series especially for two different networks.
That’s over though with Michelle Dixon being a casualty as Terminators hunt down John Connor. Guess we’ll be seeing more of Penny Widmore [...]

Miami Heat Getting High Tech

by Gee Why on September 30, 2008

in Uncategorized

New Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra is trying out some high tech hijinks to connect to his younger players. Instead of using the traditional 300-page play book, Spoelstra rebuilt the playbook for the iPod Touch. The Touches also contain video playback from last year to compare against.
Too bad Shaq wasn’t still with [...]

Bad Gadget Karma

by Gee Why on August 17, 2008

in Uncategorized

Been having a rash of bad karma with the gadgets lately. My Sennheiser MX75 earphones have developed tears in various locations of the cord. They still work, but these tears can’t be good.
My Nike+ iPod running kit is acting up from time to time. Not sure if the battery is running low, [...]

Olympic Ethnic Slur?

by Gee Why on August 16, 2008

in Uncategorized

Spain’s national basketball team playing in the Olympics in Beijing had this picture taken where all team members appear to be making their eyes slanted.
An ethnic slur or an affectionate gesture?
A segment about this picture aired during Team USA’s game against Spain. Watch the video footage.

Facebook Takes the Lead

by Gee Why on August 13, 2008

Facebook has overtaken Myspace as top online social network. Didn’t see that one coming with Myspace still a popular destination with the younger generation. Perhaps the older generation is getting hip and trying out the social waters via Facebook.
I wonder if Dancing with the Stars head judge, Len Goodman, has a Facebook profile?

All Blogged Out…

by Gee Why on August 13, 2008

in Uncategorized

Lisa Lisa was all cried out and now, I think I’m all blogged out. Blogging here has been on the decline without a lot of time to devote to pulp, passions, and addictions. Instead maintaining two blogs at work has been the recent focus.
Though I am surprised at the level of transparency that’s [...]

Yeah, you’re not completely certain that an online person is who they really say they are. But if you know the person and his personality and quirks, you can kinda tell when things don’t match up. A Facebook friend was showing some unusual behavior, first of which was being on Facebook to begin [...]

While all blogging platforms provide a web-based interface to create and manage posts, I prefer a dedicated desktop blogging app. These apps make it easier to add links, spell check, tag posts, change dates, and more. My primary apps are Ecto and MarsEdit.
But if you’re looking at other blogging apps, check out this [...]

Whoa, a fight in the WNBA last night with three ejections! Players coming off the benches in defense, coaches trying to separate players. Rick Mahorn, Bill Laimbeer, Michael Cooper involved?! Pistons versus the Lakers all over again.
The NBA is now definitely in the WNBA.

I thought this was announced awhile ago, but maybe now it’s actually happening. Tivo HD and Series 3 boxes will be getting an upgrade allowing YouTube access. Once you get the upgrade, you’ll have all that YouTube offers on your television.

Over the weekend, there was some bogus comments left so I turned on comment moderation for Pulpconnection. What this means is that your comment won’t be shown until I approve it. Sorry, but didn’t want the junk comments from detracting from genuine words.
