Coming to Starbucks During the Holidays
The Holiday season is almost here and that means the return of Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha, arguably their best drink. But the Starbucks siren is serving up a twist on this classic with the Peppermint Twist. This variation includes a twist of peppermint and spearmint along with candy sprinkles.
Joining the Holiday seasonal lineup is the Espresso Truffle (hot chocolate revved up with espresso) and the Gingersnap Latte (not to be confused with gingerbread). The Espresso Truffle sounds like a decadent hot drink loaded with calories. Eh on gingerbread, will try the gingersnap. Ohhh, peppermint brownies…

Digital Setback: No VGA Cable?!
My digital plan has moved ahead after a small delay. The Samsung LCD is now here and set up. But to connect a computer, you need a DVI-to-HDMI cable or a VGA cable of which I have neither! I can understand not having a DVI-to-HDMI cable, but looking through a drawerful of cables, I can’t find a run of the mill “blue” VGA cable. I can’t believe it. I have DVI cables, but not one stinkin’ VGA cable.
Just a minor setback.
Michelle Dixon Dies so Penny Widmore Can Live
Sonya Walger plays Penny Widmore on LOST and Michelle Dixon on Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Never really saw an actor belong on two series especially for two different networks.
That’s over though with Michelle Dixon being a casualty as Terminators hunt down John Connor. Guess we’ll be seeing more of Penny Widmore on LOST.
And speaking of the Terminator series, the second season has been disappointing, but episode 4-Allison from Palmdale might set the show back on track.

Celebrate Children and Youth Day
On Sunday, October 5, celebrate the 15th Annual Children and Youth Day at the State Capitol. The Mobile Gamer Guys will be there with their vans packed with video game madness. We’re talking linked XBoxes and Nintendo Wiis on huge television screens.

Twilight the Movie Has an Official Soundtrack
Amazon has the Twilight soundtrack available for pre-order, but… for $9.99, you don’t know what you’re getting since the list of tracks isn’t available yet. The CD does go on sale November 4 so there’s a lot of time for the track listing.
One song that will be on the CD is Paramore’s Decode which reminds me of Tatu’s All the Things She Said with some guitar action from the theme song from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Still good song though.

Behind the (Alien) Ninja – in Hawaii

Problems with My Digital Plan
My digital plan has hit some snags already. Several people I talk to say go bigger. Go for the 50+ inch screen. Main hangup with this is the obvious cost. Most of the decent 52-in LCD screens start right at $2000, $400 more than the 46-in variety.
After measuring out the dimensions of the set, it’ll be somewhat similar to the space of my current picture tube TV. Good enough I say and besides, soon something better, bigger, and cheaper will be out there so why spend top dollar now?
After deciding to stick with the Samsung LN46A530, I went to pick one up from Costco. Even though the set is a moderate size, the packing box is huge! Too huge for my SUV. Got to go back with the minivan.
Don’t get me started about the TV stand…

Who knew Dancing with the Stars contestant Lance Bass who is gay would cause a stir with his performance kiss of star partner Lacey Schwimmer? The music choice of Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl is stirring the pot even more.

Mark Ballas Betrayed by the Butt
Reigning Dancing with the Stars champ Mark Ballas won’t be getting back-to-back mirrorball trophies. He and his booty-licious partner Kim Kardashian were eliminated after three underwhelming performances. Everyone, including the judges, expected so much from Kim, but she and her assets just couldn’t deliver.
Mark’s dad, Corky Ballas, continues on in the competition with his spunky, 82-year old star, Cloris Leachman.
