Knowing how sucky Circuit City is regarding sales and stocked items, I’ve been going to Best Buy since they tend to have sale items in stock. I even started buying items online from BestBuy.com.
But for this past holiday season, I ordered an iPod charger as a Secret Santa gift. I placed the order on December 11, well ahead of the Christmas shipping deadline. What shows up in our mail today? The overdue gift. 🙁
Best Buy(.com), why do I bother?
I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to Circuit City after seeing their weekly ad only to find that they are out of stock. To begin with, it doesn’t seem like they have much in stock to begin with and once the sale starts, items disappear quickly.
The other week, I went in for 3 items. Two were out of stock and I had to hunt through the store to find one of the items on my list.
Circuit City, why do I bother?
I haven’t bought comics in years but like to take a peek when I’m at Borders. I happened to visit the site of DC Comics where the origins of some of their heroes and villains are told.
Interesting stuff but some of the stories seem different from what I remember. And so many characters I never heard of – Granny Goodness? Mr. Terrific? I remember Lobo and his story is a fun read.
With its timeless style and continued demand, Nike created a site just for their Dunks line.
The site doesn’t do much for now, but looks like will be the hub of all Dunk news for 2008.
The revolutionary Air Jordan shoe line is coming to an end with the upcoming release of the AJ XX3 for #23. Interestingly, Jordans typically introduce high tech improvements that filter down to other sneaks, but this time, the Jordans have gone environmental following Nike’s Considered guidelines.
There are three colorways planned starting with a limited edition Titanium Blue XX3.
This guy releases January 25 at limited locations for $230.
The white version comes out on February 16 followed by the black “Stealth” colorway on February 23 (2/23). Both go for $185.
Even though, the visual design of the XX3 hasn’t blown me away, I think I still have to get me a pair just for the significance of the Jordans in the kicks world. 23 years of Jordans coming to an end…
No? How about reduced price Oakley eyewear then? Oakley has a Government program where you can buy some of their items like eyewear, gloves, (assault) boots, and backpacks at reduced rates.
You have to register for an account and show proof annually of Government affiliation by scanning or faxing in your Government ID.

In Part 1 of my Vudu review, I profiled my movie watching habits and in Part 2, I talked about setting up the Vudu box. For this segment, let’s look at the convenience of Vudu.
Pulp reader susie commented that going to the old fashioned neighborhood Blockbuster was still her MO. In my younger, single days that’d be true. But in my stage of life with young kids, a visit to Blockbuster is just too hard. Getting the kids packed then toting them around the store looking for a movie is not worth the effort. Can you relate, parents?
One more comment about Netflix. While getting DVDs in the mail was easy, I must admit that Netflix came with a certain level of stress. Watching a movie then getting the disc back in the mail quickly so the next movie would come added undue stress. Letting DVDs sit unwatched was also somewhat stressful. Not looking for more stress in my life, letting go of Netflix was cathartic.
So this is where the convenience of Vudu comes in. Buying or renting movies on Vudu is super easy. There’s no driving involved and with a 30-day rental period, the stress of finishing a movie is minimal.
How easy is it to get a movie on Vudu? It’s this easy.
I’m McLovin it! And don’t forget, the movie is downloading off the Net as you’re watching. The quality and speed ain’t too shabby, huh?
Oh yes, Hawaii’s loss to Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl was painful to watch. But in case you missed it or simply are a masochist, you can buy the telecast of the 2008 Sugar Bowl from iTunes.
For $3, you can see Dan Kelly kick a field goal and Tyler Graunke throw for a TD. If you want the entire BCS Bowl Bash games, get the Season Pass for $14.

MacWorld Expos are always fun but the best ones are when Apple goes nuts and does something unpredictable. Something like entering the cell phone industry with the iPhone.
Is the upcoming Macworld Expo starting on January 15 going to mark another transformation for Apple? Will Apple focus more on content for its entertainment market? There’s rumors that Apple will begin offering movie rentals via the iTunes Store. And now the businessman, Jay-Z, is said to be partnering with Apple as part of some kind of music label.
Interesting times ahead.
