Kicks Anthology: Air Jordan 11 Retro
Added one more box to my Kicks Anthology. This one is the classic Air Jordan 11 Retro, black and varsity red colorway. This shoe meant business on the court!

Back in the day, Bo Jackson and John McEnroe wore Nike Air Trainers and made them classic kicks. Taking from this inspiration and enlisting Bryan Clay, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu, Brandon Roy, and Amare Stoudemire, Nike has given life to the Nike Trainer 1.
The Trainer 1 features Nike DiamondFLX, “a patent-pending outsole system that provides flexibility and support through multi-directional movement,” a Max Air unit, and FlyWire.
These kicks release on July 1, 2009 unless you’re a supporter of boxer Manny Pacquiao. The Pacman and Nike teamed up for a special version of the Trainer 1 that went to his friends and family and with 100 pairs sold in select stores.
If Wolverine wore Nike kicks, he’d be rocking these Air Max 95.
The high tops are for Wolvie’s nemesis, Sabertooth.
Did you find your Pepsi or Mountain Dew Throwback yet? For eight weeks starting on April 20, these drinks sweetened with sugar and not High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) will be available, and yes, they are in Hawaii. Over the weekend, I managed to find both Throwback varieties in 20 oz. bottles at Safeway in Kailua.
My first thoughts drinking the Throwback Dew – smooth and flat. The drink feels less carbonated but is real easy to drink. I kinda missed the extra fizz though that shouldn’t have anything to do with HFCS?
To go with the sweetness of the Mountain Dew, I snacked on salty Doritos Salsa Verde chips. These Doritos have a bite to them, not overly spicy but you do feel a burn after eating a few. The Throwback and Salsa Verde Doritos made a nice green pairing.
I think the Pepsi Throwback has a more drastic change in flavor and feel. The Throwback is definitely easier to drink than regular Pepsi. To me, Pepsi feels harsh while swallowing and chugging it would be tough. Not so with Pepsi Throwback. Again smooth and flat like Throwback Dew but not too flat since you’ll definitely burp or fart afterwards. The biggest difference for me was not getting an upset stomach after drinking Pepsi Throwback. Usually, Pepsi turns my stomach a bit, nothing major but still noticeable. Pepsi Throwback didn’t have that affect on me. Could that be due to sweetened with sugar versus HFCS?
Pepsi Throwback doesn’t even compare with Pepsi Natural. These are two completely different drinks. The Throwback is Pepsi while the Natural is more like Pepsi-flavored club soda.
So is Throwback worth it? I’ll definitely stock up but won’t miss them in the long run.

My Nike Air Moto 6+ running shoes were already wearing down so I picked up the Nike Structure Triax+ 12 in silver and black.
So far, loving these shoes. Usually, I go for the cushioned ride provided by Air Max technology, but the Structure has responsive Nike Zoom instead. I think the Foot Bridge is giving the stability and comfort I need.
All this tech including the Nike+ iPod integration ain’t helping my runs but the runs ain’t hurting me either so it’s all good.
You think Apple’s financial fortune based on iPhone sales is a short term fluke? Wait for kids like this to grow up!
Thanks for the link Jessica!
The Anteaters of UC Irvine, the Home of Eater Nation, like their coffee. A full fledged Starbucks store has infiltrated the campus taking the spot of the school’s outside cafe.
The school itself has gotten a facelift with major renovations of the exterior of the Student Center.
The inside of the Bookstore looks about the same though with lotta love for Team Edward.
And the UCI Medical Center by Disneyland also completed their new facility.
Wow, I need me one of these new fandagled Starbucks Plug and Pour USB sticks.
Wonder if it works with an iMac or MacBook Pro? April Fools!
For certain, Kicks HI (Makaloa version) is releasing the Nike and Kanye West kicks collaboration, the Air Yeezy, on Saturday, April 4. What isn’t certain but hinted at is the appearance of one Mr. West at the store in person. CK of Kicks HI has this to say:
there is a more than slight possibility that some special guest friends who are in town at the moment might come through for the release of the Air Yeezy
Hmmm, is Kanye in the 808 state?
