Last summer, Starbucks went fruity with their drink lineup. There was orange in June, raspberry in July, and blueberry in August.
According to Starbucks Gossip, the summer of ’08 will feature a zingier array of drinks:
I’m not excited since I don’t drink Fraps or teas. I’ll give the Double Shot + Energy a try.
Part of the appeal of Starbucks’ new Pikes Place roast is its freshness. The coffee is made and served fresh, not sitting more than 30 minutes. The coffee beans for the Pikes are also freshly roasted, but I guess “roasted fresh” means something else in Starbucks parlance.
What do you think “roasted fresh” means? Today, yesterday, a few days ago? How about over a month ago? Is that still considered fresh?

Oh well, what do I know. I thought Windward Mall was a deathtrap and still think having a holster for a coffee stirrer is a fantastic idea.
Stopped by Starbucks to find the new Song of the Week by the Counting Crows. The song cards were by the register for the taking.
Enjoy music lovers (and be sure to work your way to your annual $1825 coffee allotment)!
Okay, so I didn’t think of Starbucks new Splash Sticks. That honor supposedly goes to Seattle Stix Chick, and people are reportedly loving them. Love them or hate them, they’re here.
My idea piggy backs off of the Splash Stick after drinking some Splash Stuck Pikes Place roast the other morning. What do you do with the Splash Stick when you want to take a drink, especially when you don’t have a free hand during the morning commute? Why not a holster for the Splash Stick? Yes, yes, over the top, but I ain’t putting that coffee dripping stick on my car interior leaving stains!
Why not have a loop of some type on the side of the cup, sleeve, or better yet, on the top of the plastic lid to hold the Splash Stick? Since the Splash Stick is tapered, you can securely slide the stick into the holster, take a drink then re-insert the Splash Stick to prevent spillage and keep the warmth in.
This is so lolo, it might work! 😉 Vote for the Splash Stick holster!
Not quite what I had in mind for my crazy Starbucks idea, but hey, it’ll do. Instead of unlimited free music downloads while at a Starbucks location, Starbucks has started its free Pick of the Week program.
On each Tuesday, Starbucks is giving out a card redeemable for a handpicked music or video single. The Counting Crows’ Washington Square kicks off the program today.
I’m guessing that when stores run out of cards for the week then you’re out of luck and have to look elsewhere?? And while Starbucks is rolling out new ideas, they’re also creating a lot of junk to dispose of. First, the just introduced Splash Sticks and now each week, these Pick of the Week cards will be littering somewhere. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still getting them. 😉 Meet me at Starbucks anyone?

Seems like a recent theme afflicting businesses is getting too big and forgoing their heritage. The answer obviously is to remember your roots and embrace your history. Such as it is with Starbucks.
Starbucks recent big secret of its Pikes Place roast continues to draw attention. The coffee itself is getting good reviews for being “un-Starbucks-like.” And even the use of a modified retro Starbucks logo has struck a chord. Both changes came about since consumers felt the coffee chain had become too commercialized and lost its way.
However, Starbucks is not the only business that’s gotten too big for itself. Soon-to-be-in-Hawaii Victoria’s Secret is pondering the same problem, having become too sexy. What is their equivalent Pikes Place solution? Get back to their heritage of “ultra feminine.”
What’s ultra feminine? I don’t know, but I’m guessing it’s not this.

Kobe Bryant is pimping Nike’s new Hyperdunk midcuts with a viral video of himself jumping over an oncoming Aston Martin car.
I’m sure the video is fake, but you think kids would try this stunt?
