Hawaii Five 5-0 2.0
The remake of the iconic Hawaii Five-0 is a go, and here’s the opening sequence to prove it.

Walking through Borders at Windward Mall (you know, the mall that cares), I saw a new book by Seth Godin called Linchpin. Here’s a snippet from a review of Linchpin:
We need linchpins to solve our problems, keep us connected, and inspire us with art. People who are linchpins are creative, good at connecting with others, and able to see solutions like no one else. They truly are indispensable.
I was immediately sold but… I didn’t want to pay full price for these words of wisdom. Go figure. So I did some price checking on Linchpin, and here’s what I found.
Hmmm, listening to audiobooks is convenient during the drives to and from work. The Hawaii public library system actually does have one copy of the book and audiobook (yes, only a single copy and you can’t borrow the electronic audiobook until it’s been “returned”), but there is a waiting list of five. The discounted book cost at Amazon is reasonable, but that eBook format is intriguing. I’ve never tried that medium before. So of course, my rationale is to buy an iPad in order to read Linchpin at the median cost of $13.
Makes sense right? Work with me people.
Whoa, the Semi-Finals for Season 10 of Dancing with the Stars was sweet! The level of competition was up there, and everyone was on their game. Erin Andrews proved she belonged in the top three with continued improvements, and Cheryl Burke shaped Chad Ochocinco into a contender.
The real battle is between Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger. Evan and Anna’s paso doble to Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life was primal and controlled fury. Best all-around performance for Evan I think.
But then there’s that Hawaii girl turned Pussycat Doll. She and that master choreographer Derek Hough, that’s a power packed duo. The Argentine Tango is becoming one of my favorite dances. The complexity and timing of this dance can make you or break you. I loved the lines of Derek and Nicole in their perfectly scored performance.
Nicole and Derek’s second dance of the Semi-Finals got a sneak peek before the commercial break and what a setup that was. Nicole decked out in purple looking like his highness Prince doing the cha cha cha. And that ending. Just watch Bruno’s contortions in the background and you’ll understand.
To no surprise, the dancers headed to the DWTS Finals are Evan, Nicole, and Erin. Chad Ochocinco became a dancing contender, but he’s not a dancing champion (yet).
DWTS Finals. Next week. Derek Hough and Nicole Scherzinger. Freestyle. Can’t wait!
LOST has filmed all over Hawaii including several scenes at the various University of Hawaii campuses. Where you ask? Watch this video montage to find out.

So my pal JoJo has skills, but young Greyson absolutely crushed it with his rendition of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi. Watch the video a few times for the expressions of his unsuspecting classmates.
Will Jack take the role of Jacob? Will Hurley be the new Richard Alpert? Will Sawyer be the new Ben?
So sad when LOST comes to an end this month.
After an average Week 6 of Dancing with the Stars, Week 7 was maglorious (magnificent and glorious). Every couple crushed it with the lowest individual score of 8 and no 7’s in the bunch.
Erin Andrews and Maks set the tone early with a near pant-less quickstep earning them a 27. Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke danced to a Coldplay song? I didn’t even notice, but more telling was their score of 9 from Len Goodman. That got a smile on the face of #85.
The DWTS judges ultimately did Nicole Scherzinger a favor. They got hostess Brooke Burke off of Nicole’s case. The judges flat out told Nicole that she’s the best dancer ever to participate in DWTS, so no more comparisons please Brooke Burke. 🙂 And way to rock the Aloha spirit with all the leis, Ms. Scherzinger. Looked like local kine graduation!
Pamela Anderson received the lowest score of the night with 24 and is in elimination danger. Pam’s entertaining, but she isn’t progressing as much as the others. She held her own in the Lady Gaga dance troupe but barely. Niecy Nash is the other one in elimination jeopardy, but she’s actually showing more progression.
Week 7 belonged to the maglorious Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. Maybe they were aided by the crescendo of the solid performances before them, but this couple’s Argentine Tango electrified the audience and soothed Anna’s hubby.
Ok if @evanlysacek & @atrebunskaya don’t get 10s ima kill the judges
What was the fuss about? Check out their performance.
Watch tonight to see which five couples dance on.
I read this review of B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, and I was convinced:
There are four rappers that I will buy their CD on the spot without any hesitation.
- Kid Cudi
- Lupe Fiasco
- Kanye West

Food Revolution’s Jamie Oliver asks for his one wish to change the world in his TED Prize winning talk.
If you’ve watched the Food Revolution on television, you’ll see lots of material referenced in Jamie’s talk. But if you haven’t watched this compelling series, this 20-minute talk is a great summary of what Jamie’s been doing to change the state of food in the US and around the world.
What is Jamie’s one wish to change the world?
I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.
