Even Spoons Get Tired
Seemingly even spoons get tired and need a rest every now and then. I’m guessing that’s why products like this exist, Tumbleweed Spoon Rest.

On more than one occasion at different Starbucks locations, I’ve gotten Starbucks’ new Vanilla Blonde concoction free with my free-coffee tumbler. While this drink is just a blonde roast with vanilla syrup, there is normally an additional cost for the syrup. But to the surprise of most baristas, the cost of Vanilla Blonde is covered by the free-coffee-tumbler code.
Wanting to maximize the deal, I was thinking of adding even more flavored shots and pay for them to earn Starbucks Rewards stars on the cheap. So this morning, I dirtied my Vanilla Blonde by infusing golden caramel. Cost of this “Dirty Blonde?” Free.
Hmmm, is this a relatively cheap way of earning Starbucks Rewards stars? With the free-brewed-coffee-in-January tumbler, you get plain coffee for free (well, that’s not completely true since the newly promoted Vanilla Blonde is covered as a freebie). How about paying for flavored syrup shots added to your free coffee? What’s the cost of a syrup shot? A quarter, 50 cents? Not a bad price to pay to earn a rewards star.
I wonder how a Vanilla Blonde with caramel would taste…
Agnes’ Bakery in Kailua is one tough bakery! These pictures are old but shows the resiliency of this local business. After a car crashed through one of the bakery’s walls, they opened the next day without missing a beat. And they did it with a sense of humor.
This tough local bakery makes some pillowy soft pastries though. Be sure to go early or pre-order your goodies so you don’t leave empty handed.
Dairy Queen or “the DQ” if you’re hip is coming to the Windward side. Sharing space with Orange Julius, you can expect to see this duo in Windward Mall soon enough.

And yes, this does mean that the Froyo Wars has another casualty by the name of Yogen Fruz. Yogen Fruz was in the battle for quite a long time, and I guess its Smoothie candy strategy didn’t alter its fate.
Are you looking for Christmas ornaments designed with the Japanese Spitz dog breed in mind? Well, this isn’t the post for you! I’m just checking out how fast Google can index a post on an obscure topic. Or is Christmas ornaments featuring a specific dog breed? For all I know Japanese Spitz ornaments might be all the rage! They do make cute puppies though.

D, this is for you. π
So you picked up your free-brewed-coffee-for-January tumbler from Starbucks right? Heck, I’m sure you still can find some around. Anyways, Starbucks is promoting the Vanilla Blonde combination to start off 2013. This is just the blonde roast tinted with vanilla syrup. Normally, you pay for any shots of flavoring, but you may want to check if your free coffee tumbler qualifies for the Vanilla Blonde.
Some stores are sampling the Vanilla Blonde, and if you try it, you might get a coupon for a free Vanilla Blonde drink. Nice! While you’re in the store, don’t forget to pick up your free episode of Gravity Falls.
Okay, I’m a little bummed that the popular posts for Pulpconnection in 2012 were posts written before 2012. So what were the highlights that actually actually transpired in 2012? The top ten for 2012 looks like this.
Yeah, pretty tame stuff so I can see how these posts didn’t rate highly against my older material. I mean how can iPhone 5 problems, a complaint with the TVPad, and news from the house of Jordan compete against Hawaiian slang, a ghetto latte, Abercrombie & Fitch, LEGOs, Club 939, Taylor Lautner, and a moose knuckle?
Now, I don’t know if there is a correlation between posts and revenue earned from ads on Pulpconnection. But here’s a comparison for this past year. The number of posts is indicated by the green bars while advertising performance is the red line.
I don’t spot a trend, but I like what happened in October. For the month with the least amount of posts, it looks like my second highest earning month. I need to look into this, early Christmas shopping perhaps?
Who committed the crime? Was it theBoss, theTA, or theStudent? It’s up to the public to decide by voting for the ending you want to see on Hawaii Five-0’s January 14th episode. Go here to read the details.
Although Hawaii residents can’t influence the ending of the H50 showing in our time zone, I’d vote for #theTA since that’s the shortest one to type on Twitter. Yes, I’m lazy like that. π
So I know what the Pulpconnection view count looks like for 2012. What posts drew the most interest? According to Google Analytics, these are the top ten viewed posts.
From these stats, it seems that my blogging peaked in 2009 with 7 of the top 10 posts written in ’09. The only post from 2012 in the Top Ten was my Buyer Beware the TVPad post.
Accordingly, the top search terms drawing in viewers mirror the most viewed posts. Here are the top Pulpconnection keywords for 2012.
