The Grouchy Passenger
This guy in front of us is surely a grouch. He needs a drink or pills. Seriously.
Even before take off, he’s fanning himself like crazy to cool off. The AC’s been off for a minute. During the flight, he’s reacting to every bump and is clearly displeased at every tray opening behind him. He starts to look at his watch hoping this 5+ hour flight will go by faster even though we’re only 45 minutes in the air.
And there are other of his family members in other seats and aisles. But instead of trading seats, El Groucho stays put and acts all grumpy.
This one’s for you Sir Grump-a-lot.
Connected Through Social Media
The connectedness provided by social media continues to amaze me. I’ve mentioned our kitchen and bathroom renovation here and there, and I’ve already gotten several suggestions and recommendations.
From Namesake, I got feedback about flooring for kitchens. Â On Facebook, I got a message from a classmate who’s a talented architect who offered some suggestions.
Most recently, this tweet fed into my Facebook timeline, and I was told to check with 808 Stone.

No, 808 Stone doesn’t have soapstone (which I think is rare in Hawaii), but they do fabricate and install granite countertops. Â No promises, but looking good so far working with this family owned business. Â Keeping fingers crossed…
Kickstarting a Camera Lens Cap Holder
A simple concept, a holder for your SLR lens cap cover, that should have been done a long, long time ago. You can help kickstart this project and make it a reality. The holder fits many cover sizes so you don’t have to worry.
The Best of the DWTS Judges
Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno – the trio of Dancing with the Stars judges is a big part of the success of the show. What do I mean? Watch the judges’ best moments from Season 12 summed up in a little rap.
Changed from WP Super Cache to Quick Cache
Was having some issues with the WP Super Cache plugin so I temporarily made a change to Quick Cache. Seems to be working but need to go and tweak settings for iPhone and mobile devices.
Eddie Vedder’s Ukulele Songs This Week
On the last day of May, you can pick up a copy of Eddie Vedder’s latest solo release called Ukulele Songs. Guess what the music sounds like?
You can preorder Ukulele Songs on iTunes or Amazon and is available on Tuesday, May 31.
They Do Exist
So… Corian toilet seats really do exist. They’re custom jobs, but it can be done.
Maybe this is a roundabout way of fixing my Corian counter conundrum (sans flames) and get my costs over $1000. 😉
Busted Liftmaster
Not part of the home renovation project, but our garage door motor didn’t survive the Rapture “end of the world” weekend. The older Liftmaster 2500 motor has “unique” parts that make repairs atypical. 🙁
Fortunately though, H & H Overhead Door of Oahu was able to fix it. Yay! But they really need to work on communicating better with their staff and customers. There were too many unacknowledged (but received) phone messages and an unacknowledged (but not received) phone message that resulted in a scheduling mixup.
Service guy: “Hello, I’m here to fix your garage door.”
Me: “Um, I’m at work. I left two messages saying I couldn’t be there today.”
The company did accommodate for this faux pax, but still not the best experience for customers. On Yelp, I had to soil their company’s 5-star ratings.
