Normally, I wouldn’t care about this since I don’t watch KGMB shows, but I read that KGMB will be starting its own morning newscast. So what if they’re going up against Kirk and Kathy of KHON, Ben G. of KITV, or Angela Keen of KHNL?

The one very interesting tidbit is that Sunrise on KGMB9 got Howard Dicus as their business commentator. Howard’s the ringer. I loved watching Howard’s PBN segments on KHON. Now that he’s leaving (and Tannya’s already left), I don’t know if the the appeal of Kirk and Kathy is enough to hold my attention.

I actually may have to give Sunrise on KGMB9 a shot.

Had some stuff to plant in the yard, and the only way to do it was to use a Bosch Hammer.

Planted this flowering tree from my dad.

Relocated some raphis palms that were growing elsewhere. Helps hide our tool shed.

And lastly, relocated a little palm tree.

One of 12 players selected, Derrick Low will be playing for the United States team in next week’s Pan American Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Quite an accomplishment considering there were 30 “college basketball standouts from around the country” invited to the tryouts, and past U.S. team members have included none other than MJ.

Play will begin July 25 against Uruguay, then Panama and Argentina. The medal round begins July 28.

Don’t you just love the following quote. Look at the picture above and imagine him saying this quote. LOL
“It feels pretty neat,” Low said. “They gave us all this gear, like sweat pants and shirts and shorts, and they all have ‘USA’ on it. It feels pretty cool.”

Low, a 6-foot-1 guard, has made a career of sailing into what had been unchartered waters for a basketball player from Hawai’i. He was the first to be named to The Advertiser’s All-State first team as a freshman, and the first to be named Advertiser State Player of the Year three times.

This past season, Low was named to the All-Pac 10 Conference team and helped lead Washington State to a 26-8 record and second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament — the Cougars’ best finish in 24 years.

He was the first men’s player from Hawai’i to appear in the second round of an NCAA Tournament.

And now, he will be the first from Hawai’i to represent the United States in international basketball competition.

Been on an iced coffee binge recently. Instead of heading out to the closest Starbucks, I’m making extra coffee in the mornings and storing it in the refrigerator.

When the hot afternoon rolls around, and I need a pick-me-up, the coffee is nice and chilled. Throw in a few ice cubes and some coffee cream, and it’s all good.

Never heard of a doula until recently, but according to Wikipedia, a doula is a “trained and experienced labor support persons who attend to the emotional and physical comfort needs of laboring women to smooth the labor process.”

While the doula does no medical tasks, they support the birthing process. So I guess you do la the doula do.

Myong got a deal with $300 Toshiba HD-DVD player, but the deal may be getting even sweeter next week. The Toshiba HD A2 player might be going for $100… but you might have to be attending the Home Media Expo in Vegas to get the deal.

Toshiba sent an email out to Expo goers about this deal, but it’s unclear if the special is extended to regular joe blows like you and me. For $100, I don’t really care about the HD-DVD versus Blu Ray war. Heck, I’d even go for a Microsoft Xbox 360 for $100!

Oh woe is me! Our aging but faithful PowerMac G4 “Gigabit Ethernet” is not behaving. It won’t power up and is non-responsive.

I reset the PMU but that didn’t help. Not sure if the internal battery needs to be replaced but the cost is cheap at $20. A replacement power supply runs $200+. Diagnostics and repairs for a “vintage product” runs at least $120 at MacMadeEasy. Wonder if waiting at the Apple Store Genius Bar is worth it??

Or… Apple’s Back to School promotion is going on right now… get a “free” Nano with the purchase of a new Mac…$100 off a new printer…

But wait, a new iMac possibly in August? Can we wait at least two weeks, but probably more like a month down one computer?
