Club 939 Features the Music of Missing Dave
Missed the show on Dec 22 but heard first hand good things about the band Missing Dave playing at Club 939. The Star Bulletin mentioned this event in their In the Mix column.

Now that Christmas is officially over for 2005, it’s time to get back to serious work, or is it? Computerworld has an article about getting better IT services and improving the IT workforce by having more fun on the job.
You can predict a successful business if you can hear heartfelt laughter 10 to 12 times a day.
Some of the suggested ways to lighten up:
iTunes is offering another free video. A Saturday Night Live rap about going to see the Chronicles of Narnia is now available, joining the free clip from Battlestar Galactica.
Go check it out.
Don’t know when this came up, but I googled Club 939 and see they have a web site now. (If you have trouble accessing the site, try using Google as a proxy.)
Pretty basic site, but they’re listed first in Google’s search results, and that’s a good thing.
Some minor suggestions for the site. Change the NFL schedule times to local Hawaii time. What’s with the Eastern Standard Times? Are we 5 or 6 hours behind the East Coast? Don’t make me think. Convert the times for me.
A little better way to visually distinguish the subheadings. The red, bold, italics, bigger font subtitles are okay but blend in with the rest of the red text too easily.
How about a picture of the inside of the club? Using a picture is iffy, but the interior lighting is actually well done. Maybe as a background of the title banner?
Some techie stuff, but how about using CSS to tighten up the HTML code.
And how about incorporating a blog to showcase 939 highlights and promotions? 🙂

Seems like there are a few “must have” Mac software lists out there so why not make my own?
Here’s what I find useful beyond the usual iLife and Office apps.
Get a free behind-the-scenes video of Battlestar Galactica from iTunes. Features interviews, plot summaries, and hints of the new season starting in January 2006.
iTunes required. Video iPod NOT required.
Scanning the pages of Niketalk and Hypebeast, saw these mad crazy kicks coming out in 2006.
The Air UpTempos. Retroed. Remember the original black and white ones worn by Pippen? Original in B&W, downright crazy in red.

Nike Dunk SB Hawaii/Lava. The nickname and release date are still undetermined, but just look at the patent leather, the clear soles, the Hawaiian quilt-like insoles, the outline of the Big Island, and the Hawaiian flag stitched in the back. Sure to sell out in Hawaii, even at $200+.

I’ll wait for the real deal.

Blogging student Paul Stamatiou posted his top ten list of software that every new Mac user should download.
Not the most exciting list but accurate. From his list, I use Firefox, Quicksilver, Stuffit Expander, VLC, and at times, TextWranger and Windows Media Player. I should do my own list…
Very interesting… Use Google’s translation feature to access web sites through Google. What does this do for you? If your organization blocks or filters web sites, this “feature” could be an answer.
Hmmm… got to remember this… just in case. Of course, as a policy-abiding netizen, I would never think of circumventing security policies (as dumb as they may be. I can access all popular sports and finance sites, but access to tech support sites, blocked!)
