Cosmo’s Top Bachelor in Hawaii
According to Cosmopolitan, Jamie Keli’i Kaku Tamashiro is the top bachelor for Hawaii. This month’s issue of Cosmo features a bachelor blowout where the Honolulu based, 26-year old fitness instructor won Hawaii’s top honor. Here are a few excerpts from Mr. Tamashiro’s bio.
Crucial chick trait: “The number-one thing that I look for in a girl is genuine sweetness, the kind that can’t be faked.
Sexiest girl getup: “A baby tee and a pair of tight boxers.”
Turn-him-off tactic: “It’s fine for a girl to talk about herself, but I dislike when she exaggerates about how good she is, how much money she makes or how many guys want to be with her.”
Kiss bliss: “I’m a huge fan of very soft and slow kisses on the lips.”

I am appalled that Wayne’s World didn’t win this title! I mean an eligible engineer, making a good income, about to be promoted, provided security to Governor Lingle, maintains a righteous blog, and is a genuine nice guy. Juiced, I say!!
My First Sudoku Puzzle

I finally finished my first sudoku puzzle in the daily paper. After the Mililani Packrat explained the rules, I decided to give it a shot. The “easy Monday” puzzle took me a while, especially while watching tapes of Charmed, Desperate Housewives, and Smallville.
I didn’t check my answers so I hope they’re correct. 😉
The Lake Show’s in Town
NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers, are holding their training camp in Hawaii, leading up to exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors on October 11 and 12. The Lakers missed the playoffs last year and don’t seem much improved this year other than the return of coach Phil Jackson.
The Lakers’ coaching staff has more talent than their current roster. In their heyday, I’d take a team of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Scottie Pippen, Kurt Rambis, and Brian Shaw over Kwame Brown, Devean George, Aaron McKie, Stanislav Medvedenko, and “Smush” Parker(?!). Only Kobe and Lamar Odom got solid NBA cred.
Babies in the News
Recently, there’s been lots of talk in the news about babies.
Britney and Kevin are tending to Sean Preston Federline. Nicholas Cage named his newborn super son, Kal-el Coppola Cage. Sex-ty year old Rod Stewart found out he’s going to be a father again. Engaged Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are expecting a child, who will be born silently following Scientology guidelines.
Oh yeah, John, Shari, and Lauren are expecting an addition to their family. Shari, not a Church of Scientology practitioner, vows to scream and curse at John during the delivery. Congratulations!
Adventures in Hawaii Kai
Last week, went to the East side for dim sum and happened to catch the grand opening of Beard Papa’s, the maker of fresh ‘n natural cream puffs, located in the Koko Marina Foodland. The short line took forever to move. We ordered 6 puffs and were in line for about 30 minutes! I’m no expert, but from my introduction to the efficiencies of Lean Six Sigma, I would recommend the guy packing the puffs be “cross-trained” into another position. How hard is it to take an already cooked puff, fill it with cream, powder it, then pack it in a box?
The puffs are good. Crispy on the outside and sweet with a lot of filling on the inside. Eventually, more varieties will be added to the menu after the production line gets their act smoothed out.
After downing the puffs, we drove to the lifestyled Safeway in search of chocolately fruity goodness and proceeded to clear out their inventory of the Coffeemate Chocolate Raspberry creamer.
Check out my pictures of Beard Papa’s grand opening and the lifestyled Safeway.
Bonus: Some local guy’s quest to try Beard Papa’s puffs from Shirokiya.
Kailua Says No to Doughnuts, Yes to Coffee
Recently found out that the Dunkin’ Doughnuts location in Kailua closed down. Not to worry though, since Coffee Bean & Tea is filling its void. Coffee Bean & Tea is a coffee chain popular on the mainland, known for their Ice Blended Mochas. These delights were the first ice blended coffee drinks around, way before Starbucks countered with their Frappuccinos.
Smallville Uh Oh

The virginal Clark and Lana alone in a candlelit apartment, having just gone through a life-harrowing experience, Coldplay’s A Message playing in the background. Uh oh…
Michelle Wie Goes Pro – a Class Act

As originally told by the Tobasco Man, Michelle Wie announced she’s now a professional athlete signing deals with Nike and Sony. Reportedly, both contracts are individually worth $4-5 million a year.
I am excited to start my journey as a professional golfer. I fell in love with the game the first day I picked up a club, and to have the opportunity to play at the highest levels of competition is both an honor and a privilege.
After signing her contracts, the Punahou golf phenom pledged $500,000 to help Katrina and Rita victims, a very classy move. No truth to the rumor that an Iolani golf phenom would have donated $1,000,000 (old rivalries die hard 😉 ).
Wha?! Another Apple Media Event Already?
Apple just announced another special Media Event scheduled for October 12 at the California Theater in San Jose. This one is titled “One More Thing…”.

The last special event on September 7 saw the introduction of the iPod Nano, the iTunes-enabled Motorola ROKR, Madonna’s discography available on iTMS, Kanye West rapping, and the all popular Harry Potter series as audiobooks.
What’s in store for this event? Can’t wait to hear Steve Jobs’ famous words, “there’s one more thing…”.
The Difficulty with Music Licensing
There are many articles out on the Net about Microsoft ending licensing discussions with music labels. The key sticking point is the high costs mandated by the music industry. Microsoft was rumored to launch its own music subscription service, but these plans have been delayed due to this licensing breakdown.
Kinda lends credence to Steve Job’s recent claims that record labels are “getting greedy.”
What can you learn from this? The music industry is muscling back against the Microsoft muscle, and Apple did a great job getting the iTunes Music Store going with 99-cent songs.
