LEGO Movie Minifigs
A little late to the game on getting some LEGO minifigures based on the upcoming LEGO movie. Fortunately, the Ala Moana LEGO Store opened a fresh box before I made my purely random picks.

Out of five pulls, I have Wiley Fusebot, Larry the Barista, and Hard Hat Emmet (not pictured).
I have two unopened packs but I think they are Where Are My Pants Guy and Scribble-Face Bad Cop (could be another Emmet). I’m liking all the zombies, Taco Tuesday Man, and Panda Guy.
Welcome Granny and Saxy
Welcome Granny and “Saxy” to our LEGO family. Opened up two more packs of LEGO Minifigures Series 11 and got the elusive Grandma and the Blue Brothers-looking Saxophone Player.

The only minifig left from Series 11 that I want is the Welder. I have a few more unopened packs, and I really hope the Welder is in one of them. Otherwise, I’ll have to pass since I’m done hunting for any more Series 11 LEGO.
Bricks & Minifigs in Kailua
LEGO fans have yet another go-to location in Hawaii. Now open on the Aikahi side of Kailua is Bricks & Minifigs. While not affiliated with the official LEGO Store, this chain sells all kinds of new and old LEGO sets. But the more intriging aspect is the chance to sell or trade your unwanted bricks. There are also tables of loose pieces you can rummage through and buy in bulk.
I saw some interesting sets that I had not seen before, and you can pickup some great pieces. The tables of loose pieces is kinda maddening though if you’re an organized LEGO fan. It’s so hard to find pairs or matching stuff. While more fun with the pieces scattered on these tables, I wonder if a sorted system isn’t more effective?
Follow Bricks & Minifigs Kailua on Facebook since they post updates often.
A Belated Father’s Day Surprise from LEGO
Well, one day post Father’s Day, but as a LEGO fanatic, do you really care? LEGO VIP members can now purchase the massive Tower of Orthanc from Lord of the Rings. With more than 2300 pieces, it may take the rest of June to finish this set which becomes publicly available starting July. Five minifigures, an Ent, a Great Eagle, and all the black bricks a LEGO Dad will ever need.

As part of this early release promotion, you’ll also get a Tower of Orthanc poster, and since this set is $200, it qualifies for the free Superman Jor-El minifigure. Bonus!
An Olympic Cache
Check out this cache of LEGO Olympians. These are actual packs that I just received from London, the home of the Summer games of 2012.

I wonder what surprises are awaiting inside.
Considering LEGO Batman the Movie DC Super Heroes Unite
At Walmart, I happened to see this animated LEGO movie, Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite. Got some good reviews on Amazon, and I don’t have the video game so the scenes and storyline will be new. Might be a good one to have for the in-car DVD player.
Oh and it comes with a LEGO minifigure of Clark Kent. Why Superman’s alter ego while this is a Batman movie baffles me. But maybe LEGO is banking on the Man of Steel hype?
Last of the LEGO Minifigures Series 10
My hunt for LEGO minifigures series 10 is now done. While I don’t have the entire set, I have the ones wanted. I finally found Medusa and the librarian and also picked up the baseball player and paintball guy.
Medusa was really hard to find. I think since she’s easily recognizable, collectors nab her fast. I must say her tail is exquisite. It’s not short and stumpy but a long, windy tail. I was surprised how difficult it was to find the librarian. Keying on the coffee mug, I identified so many grandpas but only this one librarian. It’s all in the hair.
The baseball guy is common. Feel for his glove which is permanently attached to his arm. The paintball dude was kinda easy to identify with his bulky helmet. Once you feel that, you can verify by searching for his paintball gun.
