Shopping for New Products
Some new products I saw. Strawberry cupcakes, Hello Kitty Poptarts, Strawberry Twinkies, Coffee Horchata, and Go Girl Energy Drink.
Oh yeah, that’s my Mr. Potato Head I made.

Got the open source blog server WordPress running at work the other day. Gonna try to use it for some internal work we want to improve on. Installation of all the components (Apache, PHP, MySQL, phpAdmin, and WordPress) was okay, a little confusing at times, but not too bad.
Finding WP themes to match a project’s “style” is harder and more important than I thought. I figured any theme would do since it’s all eye candy but not really. The structure of the theme (number of columns, where data is placed, etc.) actually does make a difference on perception (and therefore) usage of the blog.
Also learned that WP supports many different plugins that add features to your blog. Have to look through the various plugins and try some of them, especially the ones that help draw out important or the latest information.
Hope to have a solid start for next week.
Mother’s Day is coming up on May 14, and there’s no better gift than a spa day at Elements Hawaii. There are special Mother’s Day packages and gift sets available. Surprise your mom with “A Vacation for Her Senses,” “Road to Serenity,” or ” “Flower Her with Love.”
Did you see the Majestic Mother’s Day Giveaway sponsored by KGMB? Elements Hawaii, Cinnamon Girl, and other vendors are giving away prizes to one lucky mom. Here’s the commercial if you missed it.

After a long wait at the Sears Portraits studio in Ala Moana, we ate at the recently opened Island Burgers. We had eaten at Islands years ago in Irvine so we decided to check out this first location in the Islands.
The menu selection is bigger than I thought with more than just burgers. I went for the spicy Kilauea burger, and it was peppery hot. The basket of fries is huge, but there’s a special bag to take home leftovers. After eating the Kilauea, I felt like a volcano, spewing toxic gas here and there. The food was prepared quickly, and I was stuffed. In all, a better experience than going to Ruby Tuesdays.
Check out my pictures of Islands.
And on the way out, I stopped by Foot Locker and saw the new black and orange colorway of Dwyane Wade’s Converse kicks. Very, very nice. If I had more disposable income, I would have picked up a pair. Reminds me of my old And1 orange and black Mad Game Sprewell editions I had back in 2002.

Before I forget, are there horses on the way to Mililani? On Sunday, I could have sworn I saw a brown horse grazing in a grassy area off of the H2 before the Mauka exit (before the gulch dip section).
Are there horses there or am I just having a “Lost” moment?
While station hopping the radio this morning, I heard a familiar voice. Sam da Man is back on the Hawaiian air doing the morning show on 102.7 Da Bomb. Yes, Japanese national and sidekick Taka is back as well (still can’t understand what he’s saying).
Last I heard, Sam, Hawaiian Ryan, and Kid Leo were going to try to make it big on the East Coast. Not sure what happened. Did they bomb or did something happen in “contract negotiations?” These guys haven’t been gone too long, and I’m not sure if all of them are back in the Islands.
Too bad local talent couldn’t make it, but I’m glad that the funny Sam is back. BUT, Sam’s now in the morning slot going against the formidable 93.9 Wake Up Crew. It’d be better if Sam went back to the Afternoon Bomb to get rid of Young Jon Q (sp?). Young Jon just don’t match the vibe of Da Bomb.
Still a little bummed about not having the opportunity to try out some fan-dangled ideas, I went surfing the web for some humor and entertainment. Here’s some of what I found.

Not a fan of the Fun Factory? How about modern day music videos? Here’s the music video of T-Pain’s I’m N Luv (wit a Stripper).
Not your thing either? How about the emotional highs and lows from the NCAA Tournament captured in One Shining Moment?
What? Still not entertained? Okay, how about this video of a guy working comfortably in his kitchen.
My how things have changed! Today, Apple officially endorsed the installation and running of Microsoft Windows XP on Intel-based Mac hardware. Using Apple’s Boot Camp (in public beta), legal WinXP users can install XP on a Mac and dual boot between the “X” operating systems, OS X and XP.
There have been recent hacks that allowed the installation of XP on Mac hardware, but now Apple’s making this an official reality. Why would you want to run XP? I don’t know, but if you got to, you might as well run it on the best and most elegantly designed hardware on the market.
Now I definitely need a MacBook Pro!
“Hey! That’s Sawyer!” Yes, it was Josh Holloway from the TV hit, Lost, in a Hawaii Kai parking lot. Last we saw him, he was filming in Mililani. Sunday night, he’s shopping in Hawaii Kai.
Here’s the story. The rains came back to the Windward side and despite hot Ben Gutierrez’s weather report telling people to protect your life and your property, we decided to go out for a family dinner in Hawaii Kai. While in the parking lot, we see this dude, and my wife says “Hey! That’s Sawyer!” He stopped, gladly took pictures with us, and went on his way. Cool guy.
Here are the pictures.
Thanks to the Tabasco Man and his family for hosting yet another fun Final Four party. Even though the games were blowouts, getting together was fun for the adults and kids.
Sorry, no pics of the event. But I do have Wayne’s World aka “Rock Solid” modeling his Club 939 tee.
To cap off the event, someone pulled an April Fools joke on WW, taking his slippers and leaving these behind.
Thanks again to the Tabasco family and prankster, please return WW’s slippers.
