Reading about Martian and Bogon Routes
It’s been some time since I’ve dipped into the network design realm. Reading about Martian and Bogon routes. Didn’t realize these address spaces had cool names now.

Sorry for the Top Gun reference, but I couldn’t resist when I saw the Starbucks Pick of the Week app, Halftone. Halftone has nothing to do with Top Gun, but this app lets you create comic-like panels from your pictures. Think Instagram meets Comic Life.
Anyways, head on over to a well stocked Starbucks to pick up this freebie. I’ve only seen this app at one of three Starbucks I visited this week so your luck may vary. Here’s a quick sample of a Halftone created comic panel.
No matter what you think of Lana Del Rey’s musical origin, I do like her musical style. I’ve been binging on her tunes for some time now, and look at this. Four unreleased tracks have surfaced on the web. Bonus!
That’s what I thought when I chomped into my first taste of the new Doritos Jacked. I saw these at Safeway and bought them without reading the package since I love me my Doritos. I thought the Jacked was in reference to a pepper jack flavor. But nooo. This Jacked variety of Doritos is physically bigger than regular Doritos and thicker as well.
For me, this “biggerness” of the Jacked threw off the distinct Doritos experience. I thought I was eating generic tortilla chips with some Doritos-like flavoring. It just didn’t feel like I was eating Doritos. Too thick, too crunchy, and the flavor doesn’t carry through the entire chip. I do like the heat of the Smoky Chipotle BBQ flavor though.
The Impulsive Buy has a better review of Doritos Jacked, but I won’t be buying these again.
The Air Jordan 4 was retroed in a Thunder and Lightning pack back in 2006. The 2012 Olympic Games bring a thunder and lightning rendition of the Air Jordan 6 and 7. Dubbed the Golden Moments Pack, this set includes an Air Jordan 6 in white and gold and an Air Jordan 7 in black and gold.
$350 for this piece of Olympic kicks history. Available August 18, 2012.
You saw what Pearlridge looked like in the morning. How about Ala Moana on a weekday morning right around 8 am.
A nice, leisurely walk before class started in the morning.
Never thought of LEGO as something beyond a toy for creativity, so I’m kinda interested to see what books about LEGO are about. Although a little dated, The Unofficial LEGO Builder’s Guide had solid reviews and covers a variety of topics including how to store LEGO bricks.
I’m looking at The LEGO Book mainly for the pictures of LEGO throughout the years.
Nike’s new Air Max Express is a great combination of old and new stylings. Love the vintage Air Max logo and incorporating a velcro strap is always a plus. These colorways are crazy, but they work. The orange grey is my favorite but the black and green is definitely the most wearable.
Of course, these would blend in perfectly at Disneyland…
Picked up Draw Something and SoundHound from Starbucks today. These are the weekly Pick of the Week freebies, and as an added bonus, the Starbucks treat receipts are back. Buy a drink in the AM and get any grande iced drink for 2-bucks after 2 PM. That’s any drink including a custom creation with extra shots.
You ever been to a shopping mall before all the shops open? I inadvertently had this opportunity before the DKBK tweetup and the screening of Batman The Dark Knight Rises. The tweetup began at 8am at Pearlridge, and yes, the mall was pretty much desserted. Here are some pics from Pearlridge Downtown aka Phase 2.
Thanks again to Pearlridge, Burger King, Consolidated Theaters for sponsoring the tweetup and thanks to @Melissa808 and @ParkRat for hosting.*
All this time I didn’t know you could exclude images from being part of the built-in WordPress Image Gallery feature. I always thought it was an “all or none” situation where all your post’s pictures showed up in its respective gallery. Only now did I learn about the exclude function of the gallery. The only (slightly) tricky part of this is finding the attachment ID of the excluded image, but that minor step is worth the effort.
Check out the WordPress Image Gallery support page for other allowable customizations.
Are you confused about what I’m talking about? Here’s an example. Check out this old post, Interesting Sights at Ala Moana. For this post, I uploaded a total of five images. Four of them are the Tokidoki patterns, and the last one is of the “snow” at Ala Moana. Since the four Tokidoki patterns make sense together, I want these to appear in a gallery with thumbnail views of the images. I could have shown each of the four images in a larger view, but I didn’t want to give up that much real estate, and the image gallery with 4 columns does a nice job. But, the typical behavior of the image gallery is to display all the images which includes the Ala Moana snow. That picture really doesn’t make sense in context of the other four, so I excluded it from displaying in the gallery. The image however is still part of the post and is seen individually at the end.
The next set of LEGO minifigures is releasing sometime in August or September. The black-packed Series 8 has 16 characters, and I’m liking the DJ and the Vampire Bat.
Most definitely, I’ll be getting more of these Series 8 guys than the Olympics minifigs.
