Get Rid of the Crappy Stuff. Just Do It.
What advice did Steve Jobs give to Nike’s president, Mark Parker? “Get rid of the crappy stuff.”
Just do it!

This is a neat way to represent Twitter conversations for the NBA playoffs. Nike and Stamen designed this dynamic display that is continually updated based on tweets for these teams. Clicking on a team shows team-specific tweets along with Nike’s family members and their kicks. Try it out here.
Wait, the Starbucks Frappuccino blended drink is 15 years old? Okay, now that I got that out of my system, this teenaged drink is going through puberty this summer, changing its look and composition. Starbucks is finally letting its customers customize their Frap drinks to help resuscitate this popular hot weather drink.
With the However-you-want-it-Frappuccino, your choice now extends from 7 to choke, and yes, even lower fat fraps are now doable. Personally, I’d like the low cost Frap, but that’s another story since the vanity drinks will incur extra costs. But I am not a Frap drinker anyways which Starbucks confirms saying their target audience is a woman 18 to 24 “who is used to customizing every aspect of her life.” Though if there are exotic, out-there custom Frap options, I might have to channel my inner Justin Bieber and get a Frap how I want it starting on May 4.
Food Revolution’s Jamie Oliver asks for his one wish to change the world in his TED Prize winning talk.
If you’ve watched the Food Revolution on television, you’ll see lots of material referenced in Jamie’s talk. But if you haven’t watched this compelling series, this 20-minute talk is a great summary of what Jamie’s been doing to change the state of food in the US and around the world.
What is Jamie’s one wish to change the world?
I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.
This week, Kaskade released their latest CD, Dynasty, and after great reviews on iTunes and making the top albums list, I decided to pick up a copy. It’s a great pickup at $10 for 13 dance tracks. You can hit play and lose yourself in the music.
For whatever reason, Dynasty isn’t available on Amazon until May 11 and doesn’t feature the bonus track available on iTunes. So head on over to iTunes for Dynasty.
I’m not really sure what to make of this promotion by Lunchables for Field Trips for All. I love the actual promotion where Oscar Mayer is giving away 50 field trips to deserving classrooms, but I don’t know if this video properly portrays the promotion. Seems like these kids got punk’d??

Kobe Bryant’s #24 jersey is the top selling jersey for the 2009-2010 NBA season. #24 beat out #23, Akron’s own Lebron James who I would have assumed to be the top seller as his success continues to grow. But not so, and I can kinda see why.
The Lakers also rank #1 overall for team merchandise sold, and I witnessed this frenzy when styling at a game against Golden State. The fan store at the Staples Center was packed, and of course, I had to pick up souvenirs. Though I passed on posing as #24.
On a related note, I’d rather get Lebron basketball shoes over Kobe’s signature line.
This is genius. Making do with the means at hands for the passion of the game.
For all the things Apple has done right regarding ease of use, this one ain’t one of them. I rented a movie from iTunes and the huge HD file eventually downloaded. That part was easy. Now, how do I view this movie on my synchronized AppleTV?
I checked the movie section on the AppleTV, but it didn’t show the rented movie. Maybe if I select the movie rental from the just released section, the device would know I already purchased a rental. No go, it asks if I want to rent the movie. So where the heck is the movie?
Stuck in iTunes on my Mac. I found this Apple Support article that says you have to move the movie to a device (iPod, iPad, iPhone, AppleTV, etc). Now that’s confusing. You would think that a simple sync would be good enough. Not so, dear AppleTV user.
Apple, how about fixing this in the next versions of iTunes?

After all these years, finally went to an “I Love Kailua” event. Lots of vendors, food, and entertainment. The crowds were light in the beginning then it got packed. Here are a few pictures.
So I didn’t need my HMSA Healthpass appointment to tell me what my tight pants was already screaming, I can afford to lose a pound or two… or 15. To help with this and boost up my good cholesterol levels, more cardio exercising is in order.
With space at a premium in my home gym aka the garage, I wanted a small footprint so decided to get an upright exercise bike. Now finding one in Hawaii isn’t as easy as you’d think. I started at Sports Authority which luckily had a sale on all exercise equipment. But no luck, they’ve been out of stock of top-rated Schwinn uprights for some time. Well, the huge Ward location has been out of stock as well as the Waikele location.
Sears didn’t carry the Schwinns either and while available online at sears.com, shipping to Hawaii was killer. Same for Sports Authority online. Amazon doesn’t even ship these items to Hawaii or Alaska. Fortunately, the Kapolei Sports Authority did have a Schwinn upright in stock. It wasn’t the 140 model as I hoped, but the similar 120. Good enough since I don’t think you can even get the Schwinn 140 anywhere in Hawaii. A good bike is hard to find.
