Biting Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Now isn’t this book cover of Frostbite a total bite of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
A little creativity please, people.

Today, Starbucks announced its latest innovation from MyStarbucksIdea.com – the mini version of a Starbucks card.
Clip this little card to your keychain and carry around some Starbucks credit where ever you go (well, except for Windward Mall).
My assessment of this innovation. Meh, but at least MyStarbucksIdea.com has some fun contests to promote their new ideas.
Some things just never change. There was hope, but I wondered if Windward Mall really had it together. The unfortunate answer is clearly evident after I saw this.
Yes, the Starbucks inside Borders Books at Windward Mall is closing. Can you name another location where both a McDonalds and Starbucks closed its businesses? Signs of a financial deathtrap if you ask me.
To be fair, while Starbucks is closing, a Seattle’s Best Coffee will take its place. And yes, Starbucks does own the Seattle’s Best chain, but still, losing a Starbucks is a blow to Windward Mall’s image.
Here’s a great Wired article about how Nike+ is affecting running, not only with its data collecting features but through behavioral psychology.
Are you immune to the Hawthorne effect or the power of communities or earning new stuff for your Nike+ mini?
Remember Sweet Sensation, one of those hot ladies from the 80’s singing groups? Remember their hit Take It While It’s Hot that starts off with “It’s time to jam.” Consider that a poor lead in to Club 939’s Pajama Jam happening tonight.
Go to Club 939 dressed in your sexiest sleepwear and take it while it’s hot. And if all worked out, you’ll see Mr. 939 adorned with Disney character bunny slippers.
On Wednesday, there was a strange occurrence in the neighborhood as a film production crew settled in and marked off stretches of roadway.
Had LOST started filming its final season? It couldn’t be since missing were the telltale white trucks and precursory set dressers. Additionally, there were no sightings of Jorge Garcia, Naveen Andrews, Josh Holloway, Henry Ian Cusick, or Sonya Walger. And most obviously, when were there Asian bikers on LOST?
So what was filming in the hills of enchanted Kailua?
Can you believe a commercial for Samsung? Yes, that Samsung, producer of televisions, home appliances, digital cameras, and other electronics. Yet this commercial featured bikers and a bicyclist carrying french bread in a basket. Even I can’t figure out this pulp connection. Somebody at Samsung must love Kailua!
So if anyone sees an upcoming commercial for Samsung set in a residential area with some bikers, please let me know. Thanks! It might look like this (from a reverse point of view. Wow, iMovie 09’s video stabilization feature is awesome!).
Wow, the storied history of the von Trapp family continues to unfold. First I learn that the Sound of Music family really does exist. Then “S” mentions going to college with Sam von Trapp on the East Coast though never meeting. “S” also mentions the Trapp family inn which I am lead to via Twitter.
Lo and behold, the Trapp family is online talking about Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont!
The Austrian-inspired resort looks absolutely fantastic and recently hosted a Sound of Music cast reunion. Do you recognize Kurt (Duane), Gretl (Kym), Marta (Debbie), Brigitta (Angela), and Louisa (Heather)?
There’s so much more to explore on the Trapp Family web site (and blog). And don’t forget to follow the Trapp Family on Twitter (and they follow back).
After eating some crepes in Kailua, how about going to fly a kite? Was a windy day which helped the Sesame Street friends get airborne, but not the dud Elmo mini kite.
If you happen to be craving crepes while in Kailua, head on over to 131 Hekili Street, the home of Crepes No Ka `Oi.
Their menu features both sweet and savory crepes which are surprisingly filling. We sampled the Temptation in Paradise and Lovers’ Delight (with strawberry ice cream).

Lovers’ Delight with strawberry ice cream.
And I had some illy coffee to go with the yummy food.
The balloon artists of Balloon Adventures are simply awesome. Their creations are great and very imaginative. It’s a family run business with like 9 brothers who each do several events throughout the week. Crazy!
Balloon Adventures was at the Pacific Club for Easter and at Windward Mall over this past weekend. Here’s some of their handy work.
Here I thought Windward Mall was on its way to financial solvency, beating its reputation as a financial deathtrap. The renovation plans to go upscale are done, and new tenants have occupied empty spaces. Heck, a brand new Aeropostale is on the premises.
But just when things are looking up, this travesty happens!
And the bad news of the Footlocker closure is announced and delivered by an email no less!
