Vivica A. Fox Got the Booted Call
It was the sisterhood of the Booty Call and the Booty Baring representing the bottom of Week 4 of Dancing with the Stars. Vivica A. Fox and Monique Coleman had the lowest scores of the week, and in the end, the fresh face of Monique bootied out the still beautiful (but a little botox-looking) Vivica A. Fox.
What was Vivica’s downfall? Her scary and too powerful dancing. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba had similar sentiments saying bring back the femininity and described the end of Vivica’s paso doble as a “Power Ranger” ending. That and I’m confused by her partner Nick Kosovich. “Kosovich” so I’m thinking Eastern European, but then he opens his mouth, and dude has an Australian accent. So confusing!
Some other notes. For Mario Lopez to maintain his popularity, he needs to just shut up and embrace his eye candiness. Don’t let your spaziness out by speaking. Jerry Springer got the sentimental vote this week with his waltz for his daughter. Does he have more tricks to keep him in the competition? After her gothic waltz, Sara Evans is lucky that country music lovers vote. Joey Lawrence continues to do well but continues to be outmaneuvered by Slater. Joey needs to let out a vintage “Whoa!” to reconnect with his Blossom fans. Willa da Thrilla is getting better each week, but one bad week and she’s gone. Emmitt Smith needs to find his competitive drive that carried him in the NFL. An athlete accustomed to success and winning can’t settle for anything less.
Week 4 eliminated another female celebrity from the show, increasing the odds that a guy will win Dancing with the Stars.

Starbucks Entertainment Joins the iTunes Store
Starbucks Entertainment is the latest label to join the iTunes Store offering a selection of music previously only available at Starbucks coffee houses. Now the iTunes Store features a distinct Starbucks Entertainment section with Starbucks Hear Now music.
I was hoping the XM Artist Confidential CD would be available with this partnership, but I couldn’t find it (yet).

Shanna Moakler Tangos with Paris Hilton
Rumors of romance, ex-husbands, broken marriages, and of course Paris Hilton. Miss USA 95, Shanna Moakler was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars in Week 2, but she still knows how to “tango,” decking Paris Hilton in the jaw.
If Shanna had shown this fire on Dancing with the Stars, she’d still be in the competition!

Introducing Starbucks’ Maple Macchiato
First it was the Marble Mocha Macchiato. Now Starbucks is introducing their Maple Macchiato, yet another drink the Hawaii Starbucks won’t be serving.
If you can find this drink, expect a “velvety rich blend of steamed milk and Espresso Roast, hand-finished with a crosshatch of maple.”
Sounds yummy but no love for Hawaii yet. Pay higher prices and get less drinks offered. What an injustice!
Fergalicious is Mind Numbing
I heard the hook on the radio, and I had to have Fergalicious by Fergie. Featuring the beat from Afro-Rican’s Give It All You Got and getting two fingers up from the Angry Asian Girl, I bought the single from iTunes.
Boy are the lyrics mind numbing. Here’s a sample:

Dear golly that’s terrible! Eminem, Ludacris, Kanye West, heck even Sir Mix-a-Lot don’t got to worry about Fergie stealing away the rap scene with these lyrics. I dont’ think this tune will be on a memorable lyrics list or anything like that. Now I remember why I don’t listen to song lyrics.

New US Strategy Against Terrorism
I like this new strategy the US is using to combat terrorism – fatten up captured terrorists. What a great idea! Detainees are offered a wide menu of foods, and some are taking advantage with a 4000-calorie diet. The recommended diet for an adult is 2000 calories so all this excess has caused at least one detainee to fatten up to 400 pounds.
Instead of fighting terrorism head on, this indirect method of subjecting terrorist to the excesses of the American way of life may have great success. Changing mindsets and beliefs is hard, but this method slowly breaks down barriers. When you get used to the “good life,” it’s very hard to give it up. After eating well, cruising in the containment camp, and getting chunky, you think these guys would want to go back to fighting a war and living in the desert? I think not. They’d probably get ridiculed by their fellow terrorists and maybe even executed being a symbol of the American way.
Instead, these guys will probably get an American identity and be placed in a small town with a modest job. After work, they can grab a super sized McDonalds meal, get some Starbucks, then go home, watch some reality TV shows, play with their Xbox or Playstation, or surf the Internet for unruly stuff. Such is the American way of life.

Was in Waikiki over the weekend (but was not catching the Lost premiere at Sunset on the Beach) and came across this humorous sign.

Until I Got iTV…
Until Apple’s iTV is released in 2007, I’ll continue connecting my laptop to my TV to watch shows. To make things a little more bearable, there’s this software called Perian that allows QuickTime to play other video formats like Divx, Xvid, AVI, and more.
So what’s the big deal? Well, if you got a Mac that is Front Row capable like an iMac G5 or a swanky 24-in Intel Core 2 Duo iMac then you can gain some benefits. Since Front Row relies on QuickTime, extending QuickTime extends Front Row. Downloaded television shows are typically encoded in Xvid or AVI, and a Mac would need a multimedia player like VLC for playback, defeating the purpose of Front Row.
But now that Perian extends QuickTime, all this content is now available and playable via Front Row. No need for a separate app to watch the show, and better yet, you can use Front Row’s snazzy interface to navigate all your entertainment content.
So you got a television show or movie on your iMac. Why not pick up your iMac, temporarily move it to your living room, and connect it to your TV. Grab your tiny Front Row remote control and enjoy the show. That is until you get your iTV…
