Anyone Awake from the Wind
Who else work up very early on Valentine’s Day due to the blustery winds hitting Oahu? I’m afraid to go outside to see the aftermath of this onslaught.

To kick off Valentine’s Day, Starbucks is enticing you to go on a #StarbucksDate. On February 13 from 2pm to closing, Starbucks is offering paired items at a discounted cost. Invite a loved one then share your #StarbucksDate experience online at the atstarbucks Tumblr site.
Are you ready for your #StarbucksDate? These cups will be waiting…
Not sure why but the internal scheduler service that WordPress uses wasn’t working. No wonder why scheduled posts didn’t post accordingly. Also, all kinds of trackbacks and other links weren’t updated.
As a starting point, I disabled a bunch of WP plugins. Doing so appears to have cleared the backlog of scheduled tasks. Now to start re-evaluating the plugins to really see if I need them. Then activate them one by one to see if the scheduler problem reappears.
More testing to do…
I’m not so addicted as to attempt what Thrillist has done – ordering and ranking every drink on a Starbucks regular menu. Keep in mind this ranking is on the regular stuff, not the seasonal specials. I won’t spoil the list since you should check it out yourself, but here are some of my comments.
My personal go-to drink, the Caramel Macchiato (hot) came in at a disappointing #33 with the iced version ranking at #25. I don’t drink Refreshers or any teas so I have no opinion on these.
I’ve rediscovered my current favorite, the Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice. Freshly made, this drink can’t be beat. It tastes great, is relatively inexpensive, and is low on calories. You gotta be ready for the caffeine kick though, and sadly once the drink starts getting watered down as the ice melts, its flavor profile changes. The recently added Flat White is surprisingly way up there on the ranked list although I don’t disagree. It must be the whole milk that smooths everything out.
Anyways, it’s a fun list to look at and see where your favorite Starbucks drink falls.
Caught this television commercial for the 2015 Toyota Corolla. Titled “Bring the Magic,” it’s a great looking advertisement but is misleading with the fictitious projection of the dinosaurs against the tunnel wall. Is that feature available in the new Corolla? No, I don’t think so, and the only warning about this trickery is the subtitle of “Dramatization. Do not attempt.”
Don’t mind things around here for a bit. Doing some maintenance to see if I can address a problem that I was unaware of previously.
With Valentines Day coming up, Starbucks is promoting their corresponding hashtag, #StarbucksDate, on their Tumblr site. Check out the animated image that shows the return of the Raspberry Mocha.
Looks like Starbucks debuted their Raspberry Mocha back in 2007. Unfortunately for me, this drink did not meet my high expectation at the time. Will it be any better eight years later?
But going back to #StarbucksDate. On Friday, February 13, 2015 after 2pm, Starbucks is offering a variety of pairings for you and your loved one. Maybe the Raspberry Mocha will taste better with a Heart Cookie?
You gotta love Jimmy Fallon and the Tonight Show, especially after he revived the classic Saved by the Bell. For eight minutes, you can relive the high jinx at Bayside High with Zack and the crew.
Makes you want to wear your Kelly Kapowski shirt right about now.
Happened to wander by woot.com where I saw this deal for the Sennheiser 505982 MOMENTUM On-Ear Headphones. Only colors available are red or pink with a cost of $89.99. Normally these go for $250+ and even on Amazon, they’re listed at $115.
Overall, Amazon ratings are at 4.5 stars over 361 reviews, so they can’t be bad. There are some complaints about too much bass and a muddy middle. Reviews also vary wildly over the fit and comfort of these headphones, but the general consensus is that they are well made and very stylish.
Head on over to woot.com before this deal is sold out!
Kobe Bryant’s latest (and possibly last) signature Nike shoe, the KOBE X, launches on February 7, 2015.
While I haven’t been a fan of his recent signature line, I’m liking the simplicity of this design. The personalized elements are quietly integrated into the overall design like the material transparency signifying Kobe’s recent openness. But man, that outsole is definitely indoor only. Playing on the black top is going to chew up that high traction material. Anyways, check out this video about the concept of the Kobe X.
