Twuat Didn’t Help My Twick
Awww, having a twuat on fire didn’t help my twick. 🙁 It’s still rates a 5 on Twicksize.

Ha, Friday was a fun day with Twitter tweets twirling around twuat (and yes, twuat is now part of the urban lingo!). If you missed the twuat tweets, you can relive the twuatage in the Tuileries of Twitter.
Thanks @NEENZ, @OahuAJ, @keani, @lavagal, @keani, @coachdeano, @slmcmahon, @semipro, @soultapestry, and yes, @twuat (not me).
Wow, I didn’t realize how strong my No Ka Oi background was until I scanned my current rotation of kicks. Take a look. See the strong influence of red, black, and white colors?

Dang, No Ka Oi runs deep!
I shoulda known local talk show host Andy Bumatai was an akamai kind of guy after seeing him at the Kahala Apple Store back in 2007. Andy’s back on the air with his simply named The Andy Bumatai Show where Andy showcases local highlights. But look at recent show topics that cover the high tech scene in HI – Social Media and New Media Delivery, and you’ll get a flavor that Andy’s tech skills are all in the ohana.
Episodes are put online at no charge for viewing on YouTube. Here’s part 1 (of 4) of the Social Media episode talking about blogs and Twitter.
Even the live studio audience was a bunch of techies tweeting away during the show.
Taping is done at the ING Direct Studio and is free to attend. The Andy Bumatai Show airs weeknights at 9:35 on KFVE.
Is there a term for the act of domain/cyber squatting Twittter account names? No? I then suggest the term “twuat” for the act of registering Twitter accounts of popular names or words.
What’s the purpose of twuating? Not really sure, but it could just be to reserve your namespace in the popularly growing Twitter. Or if you’re nefarious, it could be to hold a Twitter name hostage for sale to the highest bidder.
Whatever the case may be, I’ve been twuating to reserve names just in case I need to use them for their rightful businesses. Twitter names like @club939…
Update: Woo hoo! UrbanDictionary.com approved my definition of twuat and will publish it in a few days. Keep an eye out for twuat.
Now that Barack Obama is officially sworn in as our new President, it’s time to say good bye to Mr. Bush. The Townhouse Spa is taking this farewell literally, offering huge discounts on bikini or Brazilian waxing for your Mr. Bush. Ha!
Wonder if local places like this will match the offer?
I didn’t have an Obama Day today, but at work, Barack Obama’s inauguration was playing on a television in a conference room. I checked out part of it, but didn’t watch everything since I programmed my Tivo to record the “Presidential Inauguration” figuring I can watch at home.
Playing back my Tivo recording, it recorded everything leading up to the swearing in of the 44th President, not the actual inauguration. What happened?
Fortunately, Tivos can now access YouTube content and guess what was number one on YouTube’s recommendations? Yup, Barack Obama’s Inauguration and Address. Here is all 20+ minutes of Obama’s address in pretty darn good video quality.
And yeah, he musta been nervous, flubbing several lines of his oath.
Sidenote: At around 8:00, the YouTube view count was in the 800,000 range. One hour later, the views are above 1.2 million.
Went to the Honolulu Zoo over the weekend to see the baby tigers who weren’t so baby anymore.

These guys always look freaky.

The zebras were grazing.

The peacock was in full effect.

The animals were a lot more active in the morning time.
Economic times continue to be tough, especially in the electronics arena. First, all Circuit City locations closed their doors. Now Shirokiya is shutting down its electronic department.
What to do with the 3800 square feet of space? How about more seating to eat my bento so that I don’t have to jockey for tables? I know, along with more seating how about bringing the bird cage back? Not as huge as the old school Shirokiya, but have a good sized bird cage next to the additional seating area so patrons can watch the birds as they peacefully enjoy their meals.
Just playing around and building a new team site to replace our old team site. Same but different…
Saw a DUI arrest go down on Friday night on my street. A car ran into two parked cars and tried (unsuccessfully) to drive away. I didn’t witness the actual event, but did hear the crash and saw what looked like the driver trying to dislodge her car from the parked vehicles. After gunning the engine and with wheels screeching, the car got free and puttered along until the engine wouldn’t go any more. About 6 police vehicles arrived in a matter of minutes and got the situation under control.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but there was significant damage to the parked vehicles. And it even appeared the the driver was in an earlier accident with her car showing additional signs of damage.
Don’t drink and drive.

Episode 8 of Top Chef was somewhat of a shocker. Lessons learned down on the farm, respect your ingredients (and proteins) and past performance means nothing.
For these two reasons, Ariane was ousted after mangling her team’s lamb dish. Tom Colicchio presented his philosophy of cooking, stressing the respect chefs show their ingredients. Ariane, he felt, dishonored her lamb with her butchering. Even though Ariane has done well with lamb in past competitions, each elimination brings a clean slate, so Ariane was dismissed.
