Obama on Christmas Eve
Got delayed as President Obama rolled through the Windward side on Christmas Eve.
Last aloha to President Obama’s annual visits to Hawaii.

So the days are counting down to Christmas, and people’s anxieties are increasing. With extra crowded roadways, it’s even easier to encounter road rage. But this holiday gift can easily diffuse the tense situation. It’s the Road Rage Defuzah (yes, defuzah).
One side of the sign says “Mahalo” while the other says “My Bad.” When you need to say thanks or acknowledge a poor driving decision, hold up the Defuzah for the driver behind you, and all’s good.
Unfortunately, the Road Rage Defuzah is currently limited in availability, and you need to be in the know in order to get one.
Well, if a traditional fruitcake is funky then why should a Starbucks Frappuccino based on a fruitcake be any different?
Yes, the Fruitcake Frappuccino is an odd drink. Not very sweet like the Pokémon Go frap, but cake-like with all the fruity chunks. Kinda tastes like vanilla cake with raisins.
Normally not my kind of drink, but to complete a 100-star dash, I had to get a Frappuccino so why not?
But not again.
Pokemon Go’s partnership with Starbucks is now live with Starbucks locations serving as new Pokestops or gyms. And you can celebrate this union by trying the limited Pokemon Go Frappuccino.

In the end, I guess it was just meant to be. In January of 2016, I had ordered the Nike Air Max 2015 in black and white from Nike’s online clearance section. Priced at $149.97, down from $190, the shoes felt good but not $150 good. So I returned them.

Forward to November 2016 and guess what showed up at Ross…in black and white… and in a size 10? Yup, the very same shoe model, but this time, the price was $70. This is high for Ross standards but at half the price of a clearance price, you know it was meant to be.

Aw boo, upgrading to the latest WordPress 4.7 Vaughan accidentally broke my ability to login. Instead, I was caught in a loop where WP wanted to update the database but couldn’t. No matter what, the site kept wanting to update the database, but couldn’t, never getting past that point. Googling this problem shows others have encountered the same behavior.
I found very useful troubleshooting tips in this article, namely deactivating themes and plugins. For me, it seemed the theme was the culprit. Still trying to sort it all out. 🙁
So as Cyber Monday wound down, I learned of deep discounts at Cole Haan online. Along with a one-day discount of 50%, clearance items were already marked down 30%. On top of that, in partnership with Shop Runner, there was free two-day shipping.
Cyber Monday was November 28. It’s now December 7, and there’s still no sign of my order. I know shipping to Hawaii traditionally takes a bit longer, and here’s what the tracking looks like.

After one week, my order has moved within California. I hadn’t realized that Cole Haan is no longer owned by Nike and therefore can’t tap into Nike’s awesome logistics and shipping system where two-day delivery really comes close to two days.
It’s a good thing I didn’t solely rely on the LEGO 2016 calendar. Otherwise I could have missed Christmas this year. Check out the month of December 2016.

According to this calendar, Christmas is on a Friday with December 1 falling on a Tuesday. Really though, December 1, 2016 was on a Thursday, and Christmas is on a Sunday. I guess having 11 of the 12 months accurate is good enough?
Is now the newest Starbucks Reserve which is like in the old location of the former Sears. In the Mauka wing of the mall, this Starbucks has been considerably emptier than the locations in Macy’s or at Center Court. Okay, so there’s not that many stores nearby but that simply contributes to it lower volume. And during the busy shopping season, this emptiness is very much welcomed.
Hmmm, so I’m guessing to make more sales, the same puzzle is sold as two different products? Check out the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore puzzles sold at Costco – kinda look like the same puzzles, no?
Admitting my ignorance, I didn’t know Mount Rushmore was in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, so I guess I woulda bought one of each. But just imagine mixing up the puzzle pieces from both sets. That would be 2000 pieces of torture trying to piece together both.
