Microsoft "Surprise Media Presentation" Going Head to Head with Apple?

There’s a report that Microsoft has its own “surprise media presentation” on February 28, the same day Apple announced its Special Event. Microsoft’s event will showcase an “innovative concept in development” while Apple’s event will “see some fun new products.”

Which one would you rather attend? I’d rather see the possible iPod Hi-Fi boombox, the iTunes Movie Store, new Intel-based Mac Minis and iBooks/MacBooks, a video-capable AirPort Express, an iPhone, or THE video iPod. I’m still waiting for Apple’s Tivo killer.

Interrupted at Work?

Constantly interrupted at work? Are you a slave to your email? Then maybe it’s time to prioritize and assert some self-control. This article gives some advice about controlling the interruptions at your workplace so you can focus and get things done.

Some interesting findings:

office distractions ate up 2.1 hours a day for the average worker… employees devoted an average of 11 minutes to a project before being distracted… once interrupted, it takes workers 25 minutes to return to the original task, if they return at all.

Here I thought work interrupted my real work. But of course, with the smoothly running one team, work is an absolute pleasure!

One Team Done Right


The concept of one team done right.

What makes this group great is they really understand the concept of ‘One Team.’ We play 12, 13, 14 guys every game, and nobody complains about playing time. Some guys know they’ll never shoot, but they’re content to set screens. We started off the season struggling a bit, but they came together as a team.

On the final game of the season the coach let him finally put on a jersey with the rest of the team. Watch what happens then…

iPod Popularity in Japan

No wonder the Sony Bean got an early demise, the fan base in Japan for Apple’s iPod has been exploding in the past years. Japan’s obsession with the iPod is making it rough for rivals Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic. At the end of 2005, the iPod market share of Japan’s digital-music players grew to 51.3%.

What’ll happen if and when THE video iPod is released? (Don’t mind my poor photo editing skills)

The Drew Crew Brought It!

During the first night of the Finals of Dancing with the Stars, the Drew Crew of Drew Lachey and partner Cheryl Burke brought it, taking the lead over Tabasco Man’s favorite Stacy Keibler. The Drew Crew reprised their Thriller paso doble then got funky with some Brokeback Western freestyle action. The choreography was excellent with Drew leaping over Cheryl for another catchy entrance, followed by an energetic routine of flips, twists, turns and other moves from Drew’s 98 Degrees days. You couldn’t help but smile after that dance. Two sets of perfect scores for the Drew Crew.

Jerry Rice surprised everyone and brought his best as well. His first dance was good, probably his best ever, but still he’s not in the top tier of dancing talent. His disco routine with the blown out ‘fros was fun but slow as could be. I kept waiting for them to start their real performance.

Stacy started strong getting the first set of perfect scores on the night. But as I thought, the judges have a higher standard for her. Her freestyle was boring, even dancing to Staying Alive. The judges let her know they expected more by giving her the lowest freestyle scores of all the finalists. Ouch!

So with the judges tally, Drew is in the lead. But fan votes count, and there’s one more dance to go on Sunday night. And Master P will be back dancing too!

Note: ABC edited out Drew’s reaction to Bruno’s comment about being ready for Brokeback Mountain, the Musical. But the removed cowboy hat segment is available on ABC’s highlight video.

Predictions of Dancing with the Stars Finals

The Dancing with the Stars finals is tonight for Jerry, Drew, and Stacy. Two dances, one of which will be freestyle. Who will win?

Let’s discuss… It’s amazing Jerry Rice survived the past two weeks ousting Lisa Rinna and George Hamilton. But Jerry’s time is up. His appearance at the Superbowl festivities boosted his fan support, but the Superbowl is done, the Pro Bowl is done, and NFL action is done, so Jerry is done. That and, unless Jerry brings down the house, the judges will give him the Master P treatment of low scores.

Has Stacy Keibler peaked too soon? She does so well each week that the judges may hold her to a higher standard. You could see some of it last week when cocky Judge Carrie Ann Inaba wanted to see Stacy take a chance and do more in her performance. Can Stacy raise her game even higher, exceeding the judges’ higher standard? Her hotness will still draw in votes though.

That leaves Drew Lachey. While he’s been doing well throughout, his dances have continued to show small improvements. Add in some flare here and fix his shoulder posture there. He and dance partner Cheryl may be in the best position going into the Finals. The freestyle dance could be a big factor as well. Cheryl’s choreography is flashy and showy, especially right at the beginning of each dance. Their dance entrances mesmerize you, and with the freedom of a freestyle dance, an entire routine of Cheryl’s choreography could be the winning ticket. But… the first American Idol voter results show also airs tonight which may distract the demographic voting for Drew. The American Idol wild card.

Here are my predictions of the average scores of the judges.
