Did my Western Digital external MyBook fail? That would add to the number of failed WD drives I’ve encountered over the years. Only brand of drive I’ve had this many issues with. Time to switch to another hard drive brand…
Update: Oh wait, looks like it’s the power adapter/supply that’s failed. The same failed model power supply is available at the Western Digital online store for $14.
With this, I think the Apple family is now complete.

The AppleTV joined the other Apple goodies like the Mac, MacBook, iPod, and iPhone. Hmmm, does the Mini count as an unique Apple device?
So far, I’m liking the AppleTV to access my music, movies, and pictures stored on my Mac. So much more convenient to watch movies and view pictures on the living room television. I might switch over to Boxee, but for now, I’ll roll with the goodness of the AppleTV.
Did you know you can arrange a behind-the-scenes feeding of animals at the Honolulu Zoo? I don’t know how much it costs, but if you have a function at the zoo (like a child’s birthday party), it’s something to look into.
You go in a back area away from the public and get to pet and feed a rhino and giraffes. The Zoo guide also gives a mini tour and explains various facts of the animals in the zoo.
Here are some closeup pictures feeding the rhino and giraffes.
And yeah, the turtles/tortoises were at it again.
Amazon recently released Amazon Mobile, an iPhone app designed to make shopping at Amazon easier while on the go.
You can even try the experimental Amazon Remembers that lets you take a picture of an item using your iPhone and Amazon tries to match that picture with their products.
During the Holiday season, Amazon has its Customer Vote special deals where customers vote for the deals they want. This year there are 6 rounds with 3 deals per round.
To be eligible for these deals, you need to first place your vote for the deal you want. Then Amazon randomly picks voters to participate. If you’re randomly selected, you’ll be notified by email. Go back to Amazon and wait for your deal to become active then try your luck again to see if you can actually land one of the limited deals.
We got past the first lucky selection, picked for Round 3: Go High-Def that featured a Samsung LN46A550 LCD HDTV ($699), a Sony Blu-Ray player ($149), and a Samsung 14.7 MP digital camera ($179).

But I musta been naughty this year since Amazon Santa didn’t visit our house when delivering the HDTV and Blu-Ray player (in a few minutes, I’ll try for the camera).
Update: Maybe I wasn’t so naughty after all. Santa dropped off the Samsung digital camera from his bag of goodies at a $80 discounted price. Do I need a new digital camera? Not really, but couldn’t resist a supposedly 14 megapixel camera. 😉

Yes, you’re not supposed to have copyrighted material on YouTube, but if you’ve ever visited the popular video site, you’d never know the better. You’ll see all kinds of copyrighted material including music videos, snippets from movies, commercials, and television shows.
But YouTube does police the content uploaded by its users. I know cause I’ve been busted by the YouTube Content Identification program… a few times. There are a few options for this program. The owner of the original copyrighted material can outright ban your offending YouTube upload or they can monitor the stats of your video.
So far, I have 2 blocked videos and 2 monitored ones, and I won’t aggravate the situation further by identifying which ones. Just know that YouTube is watching…

Wow, I was trying to uninstall Norton Anti-Virus for the Mac, and it simply wouldn’t uninstall completely. The uninstaller reported success, but Norton would keep popping up to scan downloaded files even though supposedly uninstalled.
Going to Symantec’s Support area, I found that there is a specific tool to completely remove all Symantec programs. That’s pretty scary, with Symantec software showing almost virus-like behavior.

Not sure if this is the norm, but if you ever donate blood, you’re typically interviewed for “high risk” activities. Sometimes, you just want to laugh at some of these questions.
I don’t remember the questions exactly, but they go something like this… Have you ever had violent sex with animals while in prison and paid for it… in the past 72 hours. Again, not the exact wording, but you get the point.
Of course, you have to sit there and appear to ponder the question before answering.
So says I-94’s old school mixes at noon. It’s official, I am now ancient.
On Saturday night, we headed to Pearlridge to check what was left after a Toys R Us sale and Gap’s Friends and Family. We also caught a Twilight “party” at Borders that was giving a lucky winner tickets to the Twilight movie premiere on November 21. To enter to win, all you had to do was submit a Twilight word search game and hope for the best. There were other activities planned for this party, but we didn’t stick around, returning only at the time of the drawing.
The event was pretty empty and the Borders staff didn’t even didn’t know what was going on with this Twilight promotion, but a fair amount of people did gather, mostly teens. For the prize drawing, there were three prizes – two Twilight posters and of course, the movie tickets.
And whaddya know, I won a poster, the name called right before the tickets were given away! So close! Not sure what to do with the poster. But anyways some pictures including my Twilight prize.
