IPv6 Pulverized the Pulp
Sorry, if you tried getting your pulpy fix on Sunday only to get an error. I tried giving Pulpconnection an IPv6 address, but it seems that after the DNS records were updated, the site became unavailable. I’m not sure why (maybe I didn’t read the instructions close enough), but after removing the IPv6 assignment, things started working again.
It’s no big deal yet but since my hosting provider, Dreamhost, made it easy to assign an IPv6 address for the future, I figured why not. I’ll try to “future ready” this blog again later…
Favorites from the 2011 NBA Dunk Contest
The NBA Dunk Contest has been more of a “been there, done that” kind of event during the All Star Weekend. But the 2011 contest showcased creativity and originality making the event watch worthy once again. Sure, fierce dunks are impressive but add in an element of style, and you have something special. Here are a few of my favorites from this past competition.
Serge Ibaka rescues a stuffed toy stuck on the rim. That takes some concentration!
Former Nevada WAC-er JaVale McGee, I think, had the best dunks of the night. Here’s JaVale dunking two balls in two rims.
Two balls not good enough? How about dunking three balls?
But this dunk is downright nasty, especially in slow motion.
LA Clipper Blake Griffin bested the bunch mixing power, athleticism, and showmanship. Here’s his winning dunk jumping over a KIA car.
That dunk may not have been that difficult but it made for great still pics like this.
There’s a Black Mamba in My House!
Thanks to Klout and Nike Courtside, there’s a Black Mamba in my house! Well, the poster of the Black Mamba video that is.
The Black Mamba Premieres
Kobe Bryant is the Black Mamba, and “The Boss” Kanye West wants the Mamba’s Nike shoes.

The Benes of Social Media Klout
Being influential in social media circles has its benefits. The Wall St. Journal takes a look at social media and influence.
I must admit that I’ve had many fortunate experiences and opportunities afforded by social media, the most recent being a Nike Courtside early adopter. Mike Sumida has his story about the benes he’s received from social media.
And of course, gotta give a shout out to Klout!

Yet Another Radio Shakeup
No sooner than I post my Hawaii radio lineup, there’s a shakeup on the airwaves. Gone is 93.1 The Zone and its pop music lineup. From this week, it’s 93.1 Da Pa`ina playing reggae music. Monday I heard Bob Marley, and this morning there was Damian Marley welcoming me to Jamrock.
What’s the deal with the Hawaii radio shakeup?
Photovoltaic Halved My Electric Bill!
In mid-December, our home photovoltaic system installed by RevoluSun went online. Here’s what our HECO electricity consumption looks like.
That’s about half! And of course, that means our monthly bill is half of what we typically pay! Also, keep in mind the short days and abysmal weather in December and January. Remember all that rain, flash flood warnings, and overall overcast skies? Not great for sun-reliant systems, but our photovoltaic system was still able to harness the sun’s energy to reduce our HECO bill significantly. Here’s a daily log of power production from January to February.
Can you imagine what happens when the weather clears and the sun stays out longer? So what are you waiting for? Call RevoluSun at 808-748-8888, ask for Shane (or any consultant), and you can be sun powered! Savings await!
