I guess street signs like this don’t faze residents who live near frequent Hawaii Five-O filming sites.

So it’s not surprising when I drove by and saw (real) police monitoring as set workers walked around with pistols.

So aparently there’s a global shortage of Madagascar Bourbon aka Vanilla Extract. Because of this scarity, price is exceptionally high at the stores. But… next time you’re shopping, check out the clearance, price-reduced section. You may score yourself some cheap but still good Madagascar Bourbon.
While walking around Williams Sonama, I came across this Smeg toaster featuring visual designs by Dolce & Gabbana. Truly an eye catcher from the Sicily Is My Love collection, but then I saw the price tag of $650. $650 for a two-slice toaster!

Okay, okay, the slots are extra-wide, and at 12″x7″x7″, this appliance is big so that $650 is well justified. Although a WordPress blog theme based on the Sicily Is My Love collection would be kinda cool.
Can’t get any more Asian than this – Kikkoman soy sauce in a Hello Kitty themed bottle!

Get your Kitty x Kikkoman collab at a local Longs/CVS. Be sure they check the backstock too.
The forthcoming Ross location in Windward Mall, Kaneohe is seemingly almost ready to go. The signage is up, and the receiving area in the back is ready.

Once open, this location will complete the Thanos-like collection of Infinity Gems aka Ross Stores in the major Oahu shopping venues of:
PearlridgeWait… Just when is Mamba Day? Supposedly it’s tomorrow, Friday, August 24 that marks the release of the new Kobe A.D. But then again, the Internet says Mamba Day is April 13 (the date of Kobe’s last game).

In any case, the Kobe A.D. release will probably coincide with the Oahu landfall of Hurricane Lane. While I personally like this new design and all the potential color combinations possible with the shoe’s components, I’ll have to pass (for now).
But if I try them on and they actually fit well then I may have found my next badminton court shoes.
We hit up Safeway this morning for last minute necessities.
Still had water

Who knew peaches were a hurricane staple?

Besides the peaches will go bad so how about food that will last longer? Like these cotton candy Twinkies?
Or these Cookie Monster cookies?
If water is not your thing, there’s always wine in a can.
Hey, just trying to bring some levity during this waiting time…
For precautionary measures, we’re emptying out our refrigerator of non-essentials to hopefully maximize the coldness if when a power failure should occur.
So this root beer float frees up space in both the refrigerator and the freezer!
And don’t worry about refrigerating the leftovers from Round Table pizza – there won’t be any.
A lucky strategy when facing Hurricane Lane is to not face Hurricane Lane and be at the Adidas Employee Store instead.
Hopefully there, you’ll make your own hurricane of purchases of three-stripped items like:
Ultra Boost
Harden Vol 2
In all kinds of colorways.
Or maybe something from the Pharrell Williams line?
Yes, this is a song from Lana Del Rey that I just heard, but really this song title reminded me that my loose clothes are now snug after all that eating in Oregon and Seattle.
Nordstrom has redeemed itself, partially at least. Last you remember, Nordstrom cancelled my discounted order for a pair of Air Jordan 1 mid, in a shadow-like colorway (I’ve since learned that these are not THE premium Shadow AJ1 highs). They just couldn’t fulfill the order.
But seeing the here-now-gone-tomorrow nature of these shoes, I persisted, checking the site’s inventory every now and then. And it paid off. One day, an AJ1 in an obsidian, game royal colorway appearend on-site. Not a premium model but still discounted, last pair, and my size. So I ordered it, expecting to get yet another cancellation.
Then redemption…
Thanks Nordstrom!
Oh, about that Air Jordan color-blindness. From the pictures above, you can see the shoes are a mix of dark blue and royal blue. On the Nordstrom site, I had thought these shoes were black and royal blue (see the image below).

If you remember, I had also bought a pair of Air Jordan 31 on clearance from Nike. I thought these were black and white when really they were dark blue and white.
I guess I’m just color-blind when it comes to Air Jordans? But really, I can’t complain after getting both at reduced prices.
