My Contribution to “Oblivious People in Asia Wearing Racy English T-Shirts”
While cruising in China during the summer of 2015, I saw this native wearing this shirt which is my personal contribution to Oblivious People in Asia Wearing Racy English T-Shirts.
A Chaotic Feeling at the New Nordstrom
I can’t quite place my finger on it, but personally, I felt a sense of chaos while touring the new Nordstrom in the Ewa Wing of Ala Moana. It was just weird and different from the vibe of the original Nordstrom.
While the store is nice and new, the layout just felt chaotic for me. Like the recently-added Bloomingdale’s, distinguishing each department means decorating it differently. There are no walls or exceptionally tall partitions to separate floor space and departments. Multi-storied, the new location is essentially different floors of empty, flat space, not rooms or sections. I guess the original location was similary built, so maybe it’s the high ceilings with all that extra space that exacerbates that bad vibe.

Then I hit the men’s shoe department. Usually, I enjoy the great finds here, enjoying some unique kicks. But I could hardly make my way through this “department.” It just felt so confusing like I was going the wrong way, and it was like I couldn’t get a good look at the shoes. Do I walk clockwise, counterclockwise, straight through? Even with the variety of shoes there, I just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy or even look at them with the chaotic layout too distracting.

And you know what I think the cause is? Again, it’s weird, but I think it’s the right side of the all the pairs of shoes on display. Thinking about it, I think most stores display the left shoe. Why? I don’t know, but I’m sure there’s some reason. So browsing amongst all the right pairs was just so disconcerting. The shoes were pointing one way, but I felt like I had to walk against this natural direction. Or maybe it’s because I’m right handed and picking up the right shoe in the displayed orientation, I would see the inner, medial side of it. But really, the outer side of the shoe is where it’s at.

I have to go back one day and see if that sense of confusion is still with me, but man that new Nordstrom just feels too chaotic.
Amazon’s Alexa Needs Some NBA Schooling
While my general experience with my Amazon Dot and Alexa has been good, someone needs to educate Alexa about the format series of the NBA playoffs. When I asked for my sports update, this is how Alexa replied.
Did you catch that Spurs and Thunder report? Yes, OKC took the Western Conference Semifinal series from San Antonio, 4 games to 2. Unfortunately, Alexa is saying the next game of the (finished) series is Sunday at San Antonio.
“Impietence” Defined
By now, you know of the goodness from the Hawaiian Pie Company. Fresh or frozen, their creations do not disappoint.
But…
If you get a frozen pie, you have to keep in mind the preparation time. That is, the oven preheat to 400 degrees. Then the actual baking for one hour (or more) until golden brown. Then the cooling off for 30 minutes. You get the picture. If you don’t start early enough then you’ll come to understand impietence.
Yes, impietence is what happens when you can’t wait for the prescribed pie preparation time. Bake until not so pale (but not nearly golden brown) and let cool for say three minutes and blow on each bite to prevent serious scalding. Your Strawberry Guava pie will still taste great but won’t hold its shape when served. Blame it on impietence.
Uncle Martian
This is so bad that it’s good! There can be no doubt that Uncle Martian, a new sports brand in China, is copying the look and logo of Under Armour. I mean really “Uncle Martian???” I guess any sportswear brand name is just a name, but Uncle Martian doesn’t conjure up images of sports or performance for me anyways.
For grins, I’m curious to see the Uncle Martian lineup. Maybe they have products copying existing items from other brands or maybe they have something original. I guess the term Uncle Martian is kinda original seeing how they needed words that could match the UA logo.

Where Can I Get Space Pants?
After watching Peter Dinklage rap about his space pants, you know you have to get yourself a pair.
But where can you get said space pants? These are the closest I have previously found.
Perhaps these from eBay will do the trick, especially since they are sized for Asians.
Cookie and Cocoa Swirl Contraband
A tip for travelers flying to your destination, pack that Cookie and Cocoa Swirl from Trader Joes. Don’t transport this jar in your hand carry with the intent of protecting the cargo. The TSA screeners at airport security will confiscate your swirl. Well, they’ll give you the chance of eating it before proceeding through security. Unfortunately, we didn’t have anything to thickly smear the cookie and cocoa combo on so to the amnesty bin it went (with someone else’s confiscated swirl).
Review an iPhone SE Case?
I guess it’s not a well kept secret that Apple is about to announce a new iPhone model. The supposedly small form factor SE model already has cases ready for review.
Be Like Steph
Subliminally, I guess I want to be like Steph (Curry of the Golden State Warriors).
Well, not really, having a gimpy ankle ain’t fun. But I’m hoping Steph’s ankle brace of choice, the Zamst A2-DXhelps out.
What Is a $14 Peach?
So what does a peach costing $14 from Minamoto Kitchoan taste like? Freelance blogging contributor, Kimi, shares her thoughts about the Momosayaka and the Tousenka.

A sweet jelly encompasses a soft sweet peach and is refreshing but too sweet for delicate tastes. Kimi says, “It was like a fancy Del Monte fruit cup with better ingredients. My palate is sensitive to sugar so I don’t think most people would think it’s too sweet. To help you gauge the sweetness factor, I can only eat plain yogurt because all the yogurts with fruit or flavored yogurt is too sweet for me.”
So what’s Kimi’s final say?
I wouldn’t purchase this for myself, but I think it would make a nice gift. Since the Momosayaka and the Tousenka taste the same, I would recommend buying the Tousenka to get more bang for your buck.
So if you’re a diehard peach fan, get the Tousenka and enjoy!
