What Does It Mean @ryankanno?
There is something there, but what is it? It can’t be pure coincidence. Something kismet is at work trying to tell me something. What is it that Ryan Kanno is trying to tell me?
All his messages came in a burst of a week. A tofu katsu. Then seeing Mr. Kanno’s coworkers and running into acquaintance, @parkrat. Next day, another inference with @worldwideed and his VH07V gear. The day after I was wearing gear from Threadless which by the way, Ryan introduced me to. Â So it didn’t faze me when the week ended walking around Kanno’s alma mater.
All this while I was attending a Microsoft SharePoint developers class. Hmmm… then this tweet.

And then it was clear. I had no idea what his tweet meant. Zip. Nada, and I didn’t care about developer tools. There was the message – I’m no developer. It’s not my passion. Visual Studio, Git, MonoDevelop, my eyes glaze over. If you want to talk athletes and their shoes then I come alive, and that’s all Ryan Kanno was trying to tell me. Stick with your passions, let them guide you, and don’t be something you’re not.
Thanks, Mr. Kanno. You do work in mysterious ways. 😉
Somehow This Is Not Surprising
Kailua is no longer the top choice for Oahu’s next landfill location due to a data error. Â Somehow this is not surprising.
Or maybe Ikaika Anderson deserves a +1.
Can’t Escape @ryankanno
Another day, another inference to @ryankanno. Today, I wore my VH07V shirt, designed and distributed by World Wide Ed.
Then it hit me! Thinking back, I was introduced to Ed by none other than Mr. Kanno. Don’t you get the feel that @ryankanno is the center of the universe, and we’re all bodies orbiting around him?
A Week of @ryankanno
It all started with a tofu katsu.
While searching for recommendations at Sam’s Delicatessen, I came across @ryankanno’s recommended dish, the tofu katsu.
So we ordered it. Yeah, pretty good for a vegetarian dish.
Then Monday. I’m in a training class with other former Kanno coworkers. Hmmm.
Then Tuesday. While in class, a scruffy guy walks by. It’s none other than @parkrat who I was introduced to by Mr. Kanno.
That’s three days, and three inferences to Ryan. Is it some kind of sign? Wonder what the rest of the week will bring?
I Lost the Dongs
Awww, it was right there. The 98.5 Wake Up Crew coming down the court. Rory, playing the role of Chris Paul, was leading the break. Then there was the lob to Blake Griffin aka Gregg Hammer for the throwdown.
Robert “Crazimero” singing Elton John’s greatest hits – I ride the dongs!
My iphone had Voice Memos fired up, and I had it all recorded. But… I took my iPhone to the Apple Genius Bar to get checked out. They asked if I wanted to reset my phone and I said yes – losing this morning’s I Ride the Dongs. Boo! 🙁
But if you want to hear it historically, here’s an older version.
Sing Along with the Game of Thrones
On Sunday nights, I know you do it. Don’t deny it. Yes, I do it too on Sunday nights, any Game of Thrones fan does. As soon as you see the opening to the show, you sing along right? Even the Stark kids sing along as witnessed.
Gilly Hicks Is Dramatic
Went into Gilly Hicks at Ala Moana for the first time. My first impression was one of drama. First the throng of good looking people hanging out at the doorway, welcoming us in. Dude, you can put your shirt on, you know. Oh wait, you can’t. Those abs need to be viewable in the public, I forgot.

So then, we ambled through the maze of rooms and barely there clothes, finally finding the registers way in the (quiet) back. Along this sensory overloaded path, I did think the interior lighting of Gilly Hicks was appropriately dramatic. Here are some clothes in that lighting. I couldn’t bring myself to snap a pic of undies with shoppers walking around me.
Updating History

But instead of changing these historical posts from 2008 and 2009, I merely appended an update stating that AIG Hawaii changed to Farmers Insurance Hawaii in January 2010. Somehow, I just couldn’t alter the historical context of these posts since at the time, they were accurate. It’s like changing all my posts referencing Liberty House to now say Macy’s.
Anyways, history has at least been updated.
