Closed Due to Sickness
Went to check out a new eatery, Esther House, in Kailua. But when I got there, they were closed.
Get a closer look at the sign. I hate it when the “cooker is sick.”
Passing by a week later, they were still closed so maybe the “cooker” is actually cooking equipment that’s busted and not a sick cook. And yes, this location is that of the former What the Pho.

Seasons Change: Costco Pumpkin Streusel Muffins
Seasons Change could very well be the best single by Exposé, and while this opinion has no relevance to this post, I do love that song. 😉
Back to the story… Supposedly today marks the end of Costco’s Pumpkin Streusel muffins. An employee said the bakery won’t be making these seasonal treats after today. So if you love these muffins, you might be able to find remaining batches. If you can’t find any, well then lament with Exposé and sing along.
Seasons Change
I want you
I want to feel you by my side
I need you
Don’t you know I need you baby

Feelings change
It’s been so long
I’ve found you yet it seems like yesterday

Passing on the Pepsi Paradise Mango
Spotted the Pepsi Next Paradise Mango drink at the Palama Market, and though the thought of the mix of flavors baffled me, I had to try this drink.
That was one week ago. Today, I’ve already forgotten the flavor. Okay, I do remember one tidbit, my initial taste. On my first sip, I do remember thinking, “Whaaaaa?” as in what was Pepsi thinking combining a cola with mango. Needless to say, I’m not a fan of the Paradise Mango. I just didn’t get it. Maybe I needed to be eating some salty, spicy kim chee to complement the taste.

Holiday Gift Guide: Custom Designed Kicks
Letting a shoehead design his own kicks is a gift of sublimity. Oh the possibilities… like this pulpy inspired LeBron X iD.

You just keep trying variation after variation and have fun with it. There’s no such thing as too loud, too gaudy, or too bright. You simply have to go for it. Merry Christmas.
Honolulu Nikes Are White and Green
Nike has a new colorway coming out for the Air Max 90 shoe. The colorway is dubbed “Honolulu” and is white with various green accents. Why white and green colors are matched for Honolulu, I don’t know. Maybe it’s a stretch for the white and green of the University of Hawaii? It’s not a bad color combo by any means, just not that obvious with the color choices.
Pinning My Holiday Gift Guide
Along with blogging neato items for my annual Holiday Gift Guide, I’m also adding ideas to my Pinterest board, aptly named Holiday Gift Guide.
Go take a looksee as I’ll continue to add pulp-worthy gifts.
Holiday Gift Guide: LEGO Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle
I covet this set. Even though I’m not a Ninjago follower, this set’s details are amazing. The multihead dragon is cool, the serpent shows wicked construction, and there are eight distinctive minifigures.
The hard part is personally justifying a $100 LEGO set…

Holiday Gift Guide: Manoa Chocolate
Here’s a great holiday gift that’s on the smaller side, chocolate bars from Manoa Chocolate. Based out of Kailua, this local company transforms locally grown cacao beans into high quality chocolate with Hawaii-infused flavors like Hawaiian Salted Pineapple & Chili Pepper, Hamakua Chocolate & Maui Lavender, Hawaiian Sea Salt, Hawaiian Chili Pepper, and Waiahole Ginger.
Anyone who enjoys the finer things in life would appreciate this gift of Manoa Chocolate. As an added bonus, your purchase can help grow this fledgling small business. Manoa Chocolate is using Kickstarter to expand their production. Watch this video to learn more.
So why not buy a few bars, give them out as holiday gifts, and support a local business?
