Holiday Gift Guide: Battlestar Galactica Gear
So you may not be a geek but a sci-fi nut instead. If you like your science fiction then how about frakkin’ unbelievable gifts from Battlestar Galactica? As BSG starts its final concluding run in 2009, you can own part of the series like Starbuck’s flight suit or even a life-sized Colonial Viper by participating in the Battlestar Galactica Props and Costume auction.

Starting January 17, 2009, thousands of items from the series will be auctioned off each week as new episodes air. How about some election propaganda for Baltar’s presidency? A Viper pilot helmet from the Cylon Wars? A model of the Cylon Resurrection ship? Your own DRADIS radar console?!

I’m No Geek
Are you a hardcore geek (or even a mild one)? Take Gizmodo’s quiz of 50 skills geeks must have to see how you rate.
I didn’t even finish the quiz with some truly geeky skills needed, therefore proving that I am not a geek. Although I do know how to watch TV shows on the internet for free…
The Power of Positivity on Dancing with the Stars
On the week when DWTS Judge Carrie Ann Inaba instructed Susan Lucci to stand up and positively profess her dancing success, the daytime soap star was positively eliminated from the competition. Kinda brutal, but it was her time. Maybe it was all my positive thinking about Susan needing to go that did the trick? Even with small improvements each week, Susan clearly wasn’t in the top tier of dancers.

Who had the best performances in Week 7? Lance and Brooke (again). Lance’s barefoot rumba riled up traditionalist Head Judge Len Goodman while Brooke Burke got the first perfect score of Season 7.
In Week 8, the stars will dance solo along with a normal routine paired with their professionals. Lots of gimmicks this season – scored group dances, team dances, and now solos. Five celebrities remain – Cody, Maurice, Warren, Lance, and Brooke, but the only female left is leading the pack.

Free Pics on Election Day
Pictures from today’s Election Day with the victories of the tall and dark Barack Obama and Mufi Hannemann.
Tall and dark reminds me of the free coffee I got from Starbucks for voting.
Which also launched its Starbucks Gold membership described in this tall and dark pamphlet.
The Starbucks Holiday drink lineup is now available.
The reaction on television when Barack was named President-elect.
Finished the night with free ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s for all registered voters.
Congratulations to Barack and Mufi. Stop crying now people. 😉
Twilight Soundtrack Special Deal
Did you already get your copy of the Twilight soundtrack? What do you think? I’m still listening to all the songs, but don’t know if it’s worth the $12 price tag from iTunes. There are some gems on the soundtrack, but the collection feels less than $12.
What if you could pay only $4 for the soundtrack sans bonus material? Now that would totally be worth it just for Paramore’s Decode and Bella’s Lullaby.
Thanks to the tip from a Pulpster reader (and fellow alumni), you might still be able to find the Twilight soundtrack as the $3.99 Deal of the Day on Amazon. Yep, 12 Twilight tracks for 4 bucks. Go now!

Twilight Now on iTunes
The soundtrack from the Twilight movie is now available on iTunes. And if you don’t know what Twilight is all about, you can get a free 40-minute audiobook excerpt from iTunes as well.
While you’re in iTunes, you can also pick up new singles from Kanye West (Heartless) and the Smashing Pumpkins (G.L.O.W).
My Digital Plan: Where’d the Channels Go?
Last week, an Oceanic Cable installer came by to install a CableCard into my Tivo. Took about 30 minutes since he said they don’t do this very often and wasn’t completely familiar with all the steps. Funny, but both he and I had the same CableCard install instructions provided by Tivo.
Once the single M-card was activated, the Tivo Channel Guide started pulling in new info. The cable guy showed me the new HD channels I had, namely 1003-1010 for channels 3 (KHON)-10 (KHET). But what he didn’t tell me or what I failed to understand is what happened to the rest of the channels. I went looking for the kids channels, 32 and 33, but they weren’t there anymore. What happened?
After calling Oceanic tech support, I was told that I had to use their digital television lineup/channels, not the analog lineup. The Disney channel is now on 444 for example. Now this is a complete surprise since I now have digital channels that I did not request (and hopefully should not be paying for). From what I know, I’m only paying $3.10 per month for the CableCard, maybe $6.20 since the CableCard is a dual M-card type, but I didn’t sign up for Oceanic’s digital services. I’ll have to check out my next bill to see what’s up.
Circuit City Hawaii Spared
It’s now confirmed that Circuit City is quickly closing down 155 underperforming stores. The complete list of store closures is available, and it looks like the sole Hawaii location has beens spared.
That’s not saying that the Pearl City location is a great store. Like I’ve complained about before, inventory sucks. One of the pros of this place is that it’s next to a Starbucks.

Holiday Gift Guide: Sennheiser MX85 Sport II
Looking for a gift for the music lover who also loves to work out? If you liked the Sennheiser MX75 earphones featuring the unique twist-to-fit system, then you’ll like the updated version, the Sennheiser MX85 Sport II.
The MX85 look like the MX75 but are now orange instead of green. Also sounds like Sennheiser pumped up the bass with their Basswind System and made these earphones easier to clean, able to immerse them under running water.
Besides the tears in the cord my MX75 developed, I love my Sennheisers especially for running. These comfy earphones stay put once twisted in.
Cost is about $60, $10 more than the MX75. The Sennheiser MX85 Sport II is available at the Apple Store or from Amazon.
Bunch of Circuit City Stores Closing Down?
Not that much of a surprise, but Circuit City might be closing down quite a few of its stores, possibly 155 of them before the Holiday season begins. A list of closing locations is supposed to be available on Monday, November 3.
Oahu, Hawaii has a single Circuit City location so I doubt that it’ll close, but you got to wonder. This store never has any sale items in stock it seems. Every time I go there after Sunday’s sale ads, I never find the items available. It’s such a waste of time that I pretty much ignore CC and do business with BestBuy instead.
