My New MacBook Pro
At work, I was fortunate enough to order the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and accessories in November. After a prolonged ordering process, my (third party) order finally went through. After not hearing any more after a few days, I contacted the company that replied with a tracking number. Albeit a slow delivery of about a week for early January, at least, my order was on its way.
This past week, our receiving department informed me that I had a package. I went to pick up my new MacBook Pro and found this.
Yup, that’s it. Whenever I order a laptop, I always buy a spare power adapter, and that’s what arrived, not the actual MacBook Pro. No word when that’s arriving…
Defining a Norovirus Outbreak
According to the CDC, an outbreak of the Norovirus is defined as:
An outbreak of norovirus is defined as an occurrence of two or more similar illnesses resulting from a common exposure that is either suspected or laboratory-confirmed to be caused by norovirus.
So when more than half of those attending a party gets stricken with similar stomach issues, that should be cause to report a possible Norovirus incident. For Hawaii, the Disease Investigative Branch can be contacted at (808) 586-8362.

My Next Shoe Venture – Allbirds
The world’s most comfortable shoe? I’m there… or at least, I plan to give Allbirds a try. Only available in one model, the Wool Runner, I’d like to make my own assessment of their comfort level, especially with the 30-day return policy, but the colorway has to be right. The black and grey colorways are okay, but this maroon one with contrasting laces speaks to me more.
Kailua Cinemas Good Enough
The movie theaters in Kailua continue its renovation as Kailua Cinemas. Over the years, these theaters have changed names, most recently known as Water Garden that showed older movies at reduced prices. But the phase has begun with Kailua Cinemas featuring luxury reclining seats.
While the theater is open for business, the remodeling is still underway. Concessions is limited to popcorn and bottled soft drinks. No other food is available, and the fountain drink dispenser isn’t ready yet. The bathrooms are nice, but some walls need finishing. The main thing is the projection and (loud) sound system is working. And oh yes, the very red reclining seats are new. Just don’t touch any of the wires coming out of the walls. 😉
It’s a good thing UPS delivers hand rails.
But hey, good enough. Can’t beat the convenience and $6 movies on Tuesdays.
The Squatty Potty Is Legit
The Squatty Potty just isn’t a gag gift for Christmas parties. It’s the real deal. Otherwise, why would Costco be selling it and as a two pack as well!
Starbucks Cheer Parties and Free Drinks
Starbucks is hosting Cheer Parties at designated locations across America. Starting on December 23 and ending on January 2, 2017, visitors can get free (tall) drinks and discounts on items by visiting a cafe hosting a Cheer Party. Which cafes are hosting? You need to check daily on the Starbuckscheer.com site then go there between 1 and 2pm.
For Hawaii, the December 27 Cheer Party was at Financial Plaza – Bishop & Merchant.

Okay, so the display case of goodies at a Starbucks in Target is never really full to begin with, but the holidays really took its toll.
The Starbucks Tuxedo Mocha Is a Delicious Hot Mess
As I thought, Starbucks’ new Tuxedo drink lineup sounds better than they appear. In promotions, these drinks look absolutely fabulous juxtaposing the two-tone white/dark chocolate combination. But in practice, when barristas are cranking out drinks, the luxurious look of the Tuxedo drinks is a nice-to-have afterthought.
The drink does taste great however. The depth and bitterness of dark chocolate is brightened by the sweetness of white chocolate. So while the appearance of your Tuxedo drink may not be perfect, the flavor is still an experience that you need to sample.
Tuxedos at Starbucks
Fancy, fancy Starbucks. Check out the very limited run of the Starbucks Tuxedo Collection. Available as a mocha, hot chocolate, or Frappuccino form, these dark and white chocolate drinks surely look distinguished.
Really though, I doubt these drinks would look great during normal serving conditions. Guess I’ll have to find out before the end of 2016 when the tuxedos are retired.
