Caked in Hawaii
Thanks to the travels of @abaggy, newly opened Caked in Las Vegas is now in Hawaii. Well, some of the Caked goodies are here in the islands anyways.
And they won’t last for long! 🙂
Seriously, I Can’t Control My Camera
I’m still learning how to control my Canon Rebel T1i DSLR camera. While it takes great pictures, sometimes, it does things I don’t want it to do. The main thing I’m working on is focusing on the right subject and getting the right depth of field. Here are some examples of my untamed photography.
Caked in Las Vegas
If you happen to be in Las Vegas, be sure to check out Caked, a newly opened “boutique bakery that specializes in cupcakes, wedding cakes, birthday cakes, special occasion cakes, sculpted cakes, cookies, and a variety of other sweets.”
Take a peek at Caked’s cake gallery for pictures of custom made cakes like this Twilight creation.
Caked is at:
Silverado Ranch Shopping Plaza
9770 S. Maryland Parkway
Suite 1
Las Vegas, NV 89123
Ninja Sushi No More
That was fast. Ninja Sushi in Kailua closed down on February 1st and already the place has been cleaned out.
And after shopping at Don Quijote, the refrigerators were gone too. Supposedly the owners will reopen Ninja Sushi in the neighboring complex by Safeway since Target is slated to occupy the Don Quijote location.
Nothing Says Lunch Like Victoria’s Secret
Nothing says lunch like Victoria’s Secret! From carrying the Good Book to being a popular Christmas gift (albeit ill-fitting) to toting a loaf of bread, who knew the versatility of this distinctive bag.
Reuse, reduce, recycle!
The Changing Face of the Froyo Wars
With the sprawl of froyo shops all over Oahu, you know the Froyo Wars is on. Who’ll survive in this over-saturated market? Who’ll be the first casualty?
As with any successful campaign, changing the game is key to battle. Instead of fighting the enemy on their terms, you change things up and dictate your own conditions to do battle. Yogen Fruz is doing just that with their Smoothie candy. Not just fighting the froyo front, Yogen Fruz is expanding their battlefield to include the candy market.
Will this maneuver outpace Yogen Fruz from their froyo competition or will it split and weaken their forces?
Feasting on GaGa
So the verdict is there cannot be too much GaGa. Lady GaGa is simply ubiquitous and cannot be denied. So if you’re a converted fan, you can feast on the popular music of GaGa at Amazon’s MP3 Store. For a limited time, Amazon is offering The Fame for only $5.
You’re talking Just Dance, LoveGame, Paparazzi, Poker Face, and all other The Fame tracks for one Abe Lincoln.
If that’s not enough GaGa to feast on, how about munching on these GaGa inspired cookies? Oops, it appears that too many like munching on GaGa since the server is currently offline. 🙁
Guava Chiffon Pancakes Are Potent
While at Cinnamon’s in Kailua, I gave their famous guava chiffon pancakes a shot. These cakes are potent!
They taste amazing at first. That guava flavor hits you and draws you in for more. Then all that sweetness (and a little bit of tartness) starts overwhelming your taste buds. I shoulda gone for a short stack and ordered something salty to offset all that intense guava goodness. Next time…
Until you try them for yourself, savor on this.
Throwing Back a Throwback Throwback
I’m throwing back Mountain Dew’s new old Throwback made with real sugar. This is probably the same recipe for the original Mountain Dew Throwback, but this Throwback has a throwback can design.
The flavor of this Throwback is the same as the previous Throwback, smooth and flat, but when opening the can, it actually fizzled with dew spewing out.
And just for fun, some additional pictures of the new Mountain Dew Throwback.
Blazin’ Steaks Is Ono!
While at the Pa`ina Ko`olau food court in Windward Mall, I tried out Blazin’ Steaks at the suggestion of @abaggy. A regular steak plate goes for $6 and is absolutely ono!
The plate comes with a healthy helping of salad and two scoops of rice. The steak is thinly cut but not tough or dried out. I think I found a new dining favorite at the mall that cares.
Oh, we also did our part to help out the economy. 🙂
