Hawaii Starbucks Are Now For Real

Hawaii Starbucks are now real Starbucks after the parent company bought out its local partner, Coffee Partners Hawaii. So now employees are full fledged Starbucks workers.

For the customers, everything should be coffee as usual. Although I wonder when Starbucks International will offer the same menu as Starbucks. You can’t find the new Cinnamon Dolce Latte at the local Starbucks which are of the International variety. Maybe at the Airport location which for some reason is affiliated with the domestic Starbucks.

What I Saw on Saturday

Running errands on Saturday, this is some of the things I saw.

I did NOT see the new Air Max 360 at FootLocker. Supposedly their shipment didn’t come in for the big January 21 release date. Strange for such a big chain not to get these in. Personally, I think they’re delaying these until the 30% Friends & Family sale is over. I did see the 360s at Kicks HI. They’re kinda so-so looking.

Went to Elements Hawaii (not related to Kicks HI) to do some tech support. The spa is decorated with a Valentine’s Day theme.

It was getting late so decided to pickup dinner on the way home. Came across Wahoo’s Fish Taco, newly opened at the Ward Gateway location. While parking, I saw this pimped out Mini Cooper. What was it pimped out with? Hello Kitty gear. Hello Kitty head rests and gas cover. Crazy.

How Many Starbucks on Oahu?

I’m not as smart as this guy’s Starbucks Center of Gravity, so I just looked up the number of Starbucks we have in Hawaii, specifically on Oahu.

If I count correctly, there are 38 Oahu locations you can get your caffeine fix at!

Here’s the general breakdown:

  • Honolulu 15
  • Leeward 11
  • Waikiki 9
  • Windward 3
  • Kalihi 0

Okay, okay, I added that Kalihi part, but did you notice that there’s no SBux in Kalihi?

Poll Pau: Are Private School Alumni Cocky?

The “Are Private School Alumni Cocky?” poll has ended, and the results are in. The people have spoken and said we are cocky.


60% of the responses say we’re cocky with a single no vote! One single vote! 30% of the votes say we’re all equals. Six of the voters went to public school and four went to private school. Hmmmm, kinda suspicious, 60% public school responses and 60% of the votes for cockiness?

I tried running the numbers in various ways to doctor the results but just couldn’t disprove our cockiness. Fellow private school alumni, let’s face the facts that we’re cocky. 🙁

Lost on TheBus

So we know actors from the TV show Lost like to speed in Hawaii. Cynthia Watros who was charged with a DUI lost her driver’s license yesterday in court. Her DUI cohort, Mayte “Michelle” Rodriguez, has her trial scheduled for March.

If you take TheBus enough, maybe you’ll see them going to a shoot. They might as well buy $40 monthly bus passes.

Oh yeah, Nicole “Evangeline” Lilly may not be a speedster, but she sure doesn’t know how to stop.

Coffee Love or Competition?

Recently, Coffee Bean & Tea had coupons in Midweek promoting their new Kailua store. Pretty good coupons, one for every week of January. Then, in the mail came a Starbucks buy one, get one free coupon for the Kailua location only. Coffee love or competition?

Starbucks rarely has these types of promotions. I think Starbucks is defending its Kailua turf and is trying to crush the Coffee Bean. There are many articles about Starbucks cannibalizing its own sales to retain its coffee stronghold.

And oh yeah, Kailua is getting another Starbucks, less than one mile from pulpconnection central.
