I guess street signs like this don’t faze residents who live near frequent Hawaii Five-O filming sites.

So it’s not surprising when I drove by and saw (real) police monitoring as set workers walked around with pistols.

Didn’t even know BAIT was considering coming to Hawaii, but the apparel and footwear retailer is open on Oahu. I haven’t been there and don’t know the parking situation, but they are at 1500 S. King St.

Bonus – they have the Yeezy Wave Runners available (for now).
While walking around Williams Sonama, I came across this Smeg toaster featuring visual designs by Dolce & Gabbana. Truly an eye catcher from the Sicily Is My Love collection, but then I saw the price tag of $650. $650 for a two-slice toaster!

Okay, okay, the slots are extra-wide, and at 12″x7″x7″, this appliance is big so that $650 is well justified. Although a WordPress blog theme based on the Sicily Is My Love collection would be kinda cool.
Fortunately for those on Oahu, Hurricane Lane spared this island from significant harm. But what Lane did provide was extra time. After preparing for the worst, what’s one to do? Watch Netflix is what, and that’s where Lovesick comes in.
A great three-season romantic comedy about the lives of Dylan, Evie, and Luke, oh and chlamydia. This show about love is simply great and the episodes just go by too easily. One season done then two and finally the third is binged.
You gotta watch then hope for a fourth season.
Got this text message from AT&T informing customers that the company is not charging overage fees for impacted areas of Hawaii.

According to att.com/hurricanelane, AT&T mobile customers have access to unlimited talk, text, and data from August 24-28. This applies to all AT&T wireless customers with billing addresses in the state of Hawaii.
Thanks AT&T! And I gotta say their Disaster Preparation page is very informative letting customers know what actions AT&T has taken and what customers can do for themselves. I just hope AT&T won’t have to activate their National Disaster Recovery program for us.

ust had to double check, but yes, regularly scheduled trash pickup for today (Friday) has been cancelled due to Hurricane Lane. The Opala web site provides more details.
The challenge is dealing with one more week of trash while waiting a week until the next pickup.
Sorry to whoever’s Tesla Model 3 this is but I had to take a picture for reference. This is a white Model 3 with the stock tires but the Aero covers have been removed. I thought the dark rims would be too contrasty against the white body but nope, looks good!

We hit up Safeway this morning for last minute necessities.
Still had water

Who knew peaches were a hurricane staple?

Besides the peaches will go bad so how about food that will last longer? Like these cotton candy Twinkies?

Or these Cookie Monster cookies?
If water is not your thing, there’s always wine in a can.
Hey, just trying to bring some levity during this waiting time…
For precautionary measures, we’re emptying out our refrigerator of non-essentials to hopefully maximize the coldness if when a power failure should occur.
So this root beer float frees up space in both the refrigerator and the freezer!
And don’t worry about refrigerating the leftovers from Round Table pizza – there won’t be any.
A lucky strategy when facing Hurricane Lane is to not face Hurricane Lane and be at the Adidas Employee Store instead.
Hopefully there, you’ll make your own hurricane of purchases of three-stripped items like:
Ultra Boost
Harden Vol 2
In all kinds of colorways.
Or maybe something from the Pharrell Williams line?
Preparations for the oncoming Hurricane Lane continue, but it looks like Whole Foods in Kailua is ready. Boarded up windows and sandbags are in place, and they’re still open for the time being.
