On the daily drive, I followed this newly released Dodge Journey crossover vehicle. Yes, the model number is SXT, as in sounds like “sexty.”
But from the looks of the rear, the Journey is surely not sexty.

Where’s Your Froyo From?
Where do you get your frozen yogurt from? Luckily, Oahu will have 23 froyo locations jammed on to this island. Here’s a map showing 23 locations of Orange Tree (includes upcoming locations), Red Mango, Menchies, Yami, Yogurtland, Yogurt Mama, and TCBY.

Can’t Wait for the Froyo Wars!
How many frozen yogurt chains are there in Hawaii now? You know they all can’t make it here on this froyo saturated island. I can’t wait for the wars to begin and see who’s left standing.
The contenders:
- Yogurtland – across from UH in that location that keeps changing vendors, Pearl City, and Hawaii Kai
- Orange Tree – expanding in the “smaller” markets around the island and is opening in Ala Moana
- Red Mango – now at Kahala Mall and in Waikiki
- Menchies – at Ward, Kapolei, and Mililani
- Yogurt Mama – only Kailua and about to battle Orange Tree
- Yami – the venerable chain that survived the last froyo war
- TCBY – still kicking
- Milano Freezer – Westridge Shopping Center Aiea
- yogen fruz – actually taking on the challenge of Windward Mall!
Who else will be competing and fighting as your froyo favorite? The upcoming winter months will be the first test. Any bets who’ll fold first? Yogurt Mama is the easy pick with a single (bad) location and Orange Tree opening up the street. And notice, not one opening in Windward Mall (updated with yogen fruz who will be opening a location in the mall).
The Alien Ninja Returns (Sorta)
I was afraid the Alien Ninja was down for the count with its various web domains expired. Then this tweet from Alien Ninja writer, designer, and director, Greg Aronowitz, reaffirmed that the Alien Ninja was back.
Still not sure what the current state of the project is, but there’s still hope the Ninja makes an appearance somewhere.
Seal and Heidi Klum Shop at Windward Mall
Are you or aren’t you a financial deathtrap Windward Mall? Despite some key closures and openings, the mall attracted Seal, Heidi Klum, and their family for a day of shopping.
Looks like the Straub Clinic exit near the parking structure?? And yes, Project Runway debuted its sixth season, now on Lifetime. And yes, Ari was given the auf Wiedersehen despite the disaster that was Mitchell’s run way look. And yes, Malvin is so intriguing that my vocabulary fails me.

Soy Sauce Coup Detat?
Did Korean soy sauce maker, Sempio, just pull a coup detat on Kikkoman at none other than Kozo Sushi?
Instead of the familiar red, black, and white salt packets, I was given these silver packets instead. New Kikkoman design? Nope, new shoyu distributor for Kozo.
Polaroid Cameras Are Extinct?!
Before the instant gratification of the digital camera, there was the Polaroid Instant Film. You know the one that Outkast (incorrectly) immortalized by singing “shake it like a Polaroid picture.” Well, Polaroid stopped producing these cameras and film and sold off the production plant.
You do have one last chance of getting your hands on an authentic Polaroid camera and film at Urban Outfitters. They scooped up the last production of these now extinct items and will be selling their deadstock of 700 camera kits. You can pick up a Polaroid ONE600 Classic camera at Urban Outfitters starting Friday, August 21.
