Bungled Zales Burglary
This bungled jewelry heist at Zales in Waikele is still in the news. Here’s the video from the security camera.
Flip Cameras No More
So Cisco is ending its Flip line of point and shoot video recorders. I’m sorta not surprised after owning a Flip camera.
The Flip is nice and easy to use, but… it isn’t the greatest thing either. It’s portable, and the video quality is good. But you really need to be within a few feet of the subject for good video, and even then, audio is not good. Compared to the video recording of the iPhone 4, I can see how the Flip became expendable. Instead of carrying a Flip and an iPhone, I’d prefer a single device, the iPhone, that has more functionality. That and I much prefer the audio quality of the iPhone recordings.
The moment of change for me was at the ArtSpree event. Granted this hula dancer started doing his thing adjacent to me, but after watching the captured HD video from the iPhone 4, I knew my Filp camera was no more.
Yogur Story Is an Oasis of “Ohs”
Gave the unusually named Yogur Story a try this weekend, and it is an oasis of “ohs,” from its location, to its decor, to the beauty of it patrons, to the (oh no) warm food.
Where is Yogur Story? Next to the very green Sorabol on Keeaumoku, down the way from 939. Oh, okay, got it. Oh, that place is huge!
Oh wait, this place serves more than yogurt and dessert right?
Oh nice!
Oh yay, starting off with a peppermint latte.
Oh hey, is that @mirthlab downstairs where all the beautiful people sit? And was that Malika Dudley at another table. Oh wow!
What else can you say but OH! in the bathroom.
Oh, the food sounds so good on the menu and looks oh so good, but… oh no, the food is warm.
Despite the one zing of warm food, you need to give Yogur Story a try. It really isn’t what I expected. On Yelp, Yogur Story has an average of 3.5 stars, and I would have to agree. Would have been 4 to 4.5 stars if the food were hot. Still though amazing design elements, modern with playful twists.
Next time, I’ll have to try the yogurt.
Researching Group Buying Payment and Tracking Apps
Who doesn’t like the deals and discounts offered by group buying services like Groupon, Living Social, Play Hawaii, et alia? What I don’t like is tracking my purchases and redeeming my coupons from these services.
I have to check out some group buying iPhone apps to ease these pains. I’m talking no vouchers to print then forget at home. I not only want to see my purchases, but also be able to redeem my coupons when I visit the physical store similar to Starbucks Mobile Card.
The search begins…
The Magic of the Washing Machine
This one is dedicated to @okaminyc and his weekly pilgrimage to the washing machine. There is something magical about the washing machine, especially at the 7:50 mark in this awesome TED video.
DWTS Best of Week 3
Week 3 of Dancing with the Stars had many solid performances. I enjoyed Mark and Chelsea, but they were my favorites on Week 2 so I want to offer some variety. Kendra and Petra did well, but I wasn’t feeling their dances. I couldn’t decide on one, so I have two favorites from Week 3. The first is Hines Ward and Kym Johnson jiving to the elements otherwise known as Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Second is Kirstie Alley almost busting Maks’ leg only 20 seconds into their Rumba, and what a recovery! The song choice of Brudda Iz Over the Rainbow was a heavenly pick.
Las Vegas Scavenger Hunt
So my cohort, @abaggy, is living the life in Las Vegas. Why should he have all the fun? Why can’t we virtually enjoy the sights of Sin City? So here are a few challenges I’ve posed.
- Three pictures of food he’s scarfing down (buffet or not).
Two pictures of major sights on the Strip. We’re talking the fountains of Bellaggio, the rides of the Stratosphere, the Sirens of Treasure Island, or even the Eiffel Tower of the Paris hotel.- A Foursquare or Gowalla check in at Caked Las Vegas. Bonus: Picture of the goodies.
A check in at a shopping mall.A report on the weather.A tweet about his winnings or losings.- One picture inside a dimly lit night club.
- A picture of tickets to a Vegas show.
- Bonus: A visit to a dude ranch.
Can he complete this scavenger hunt?
Update
How’s he doing? Let’s see…
- Three pictures of food.
- Two pictures of major sights on the Strip. Close enough, I’ll count the picture of the bowling alley and the sideways picture of the Stratosphere. Complete.
- A Foursquare or Gowalla check in at Caked Las Vegas. Bonus: Picture of the goodies. Not sure if what to make of this since it ain’t Caked.
- A check in at a shopping mall. Complete (close enough).
- A report on the weather. Complete.
- A tweet about his winnings or losings. Complete.
- One picture inside a dimly lit night club.
- A picture of tickets to a Vegas show.
- Bonus: A visit to a dude ranch. I might have to count this. Sounds like codespeak for kicking it with a bunch of Asian dudes.
- Bonus #2: I have to give props for this one.
