Dew-ing the Distortion

Mountain Dew is at it once again, testing new flavors. Have you seen them? There’s the Typhoon, Distortion, and White Out.

The first Dew I sampled is the radioactive green Distortion. This drink is green, a cosmic glowing green, and is described as “Lime Blasted.” I have to agree with that. The Distortion is limey tart and not any sweeter than normal Mtn Dew.

For me, the tartness makes the Distortion difficult to drink. The smoothness is gone though this might make a great Slurpee syrup. Content-wise, it’s classic Mountain Dew, packing 290 HFCS-filled calories in 20-oz along with 91 mg of caffeine.

I don’t think Distortion will get my Dewmocracy vote, but it does make a catchy Twitter background image.

Medical Notes

Some medical notes to record for posterity.

  • Valium is some good stuff.  You can’t give a damn even if you tried once you pop one of these.
  • A bee sting?  More like a bunch of stings.  And was that a dremel?  Sure sounded like one, but forgot to ask.
  • An iPod is your friend.  Listening to music is a good way to pass the time.
  • Who knew ice was that effective?  But even more effective is Tylenol with codeine.  That’s also some good stuff.
  • Cephalexin is stinky, really stinky and like asparagus, affects your body.  Makes me gassy, stinky gassy.
  • Aches go away fairly quick but gravity is a somber reminder of the situation.
  • Magazines, books, an iPhone (maybe an iPad), movies, and blogging are all good ways for the rest and recovery time.  In the end, it’s all worth it. 🙂

Some recent additions to my music playlist.

FB Login

So far, most of the basic FB social plugins work with an easy install. Only the Facepile plugin isn’t behaving, but I think I’m missing a step. And things seems to slow down with the FB Javascript library loading (along with all my other crap). 😉

Here’s the Login plugin which will ask you to authorize this “app” to access your Facebook account (which will probably scare off users).

And now the Facepile plugin works… so this Login was the missing step.

Starstruck at the Iolani Fair

What can I say? I’m easily impressed or so it seems since I was starstruck at the past weekend’s Iolani Fair. Who’d I see right after entering faux Rome? Twitter-lebrity @farmershawaii. No, he wasn’t peddling Farmers Hawaii gear but was chillaxing with the family.

Even though the food booth lines were crazy long, I waited for a waffle dog and saw High School Basketball Coach of the Year, Dean Shimamoto, working the booth. Even with a championship, Coach showcased his One Team spirit by volunteering.

Aren’t you impressed by the star quality? No? Then how about this one? Guess who took this pic on the trolley ride over to the Fair? 🙂

The Ferocity Is Back!

After a small setback in Week 4 of Dancing with the Stars, the ferocious dancing of Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough are boy, oh boy, back.  Their Pretty Woman tango was sharp and precise with the right amount of pace changes.

I gotta give props to Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. Normally, I ain’t an Anna fan, but I was compelled by their Armageddon rumba.

Erin Andrews and Maksim Cherkovskiy did a decent Pulp Fiction quickstep. Jake Pavelka was shirtless during the promo and pant-less during his performance. Bruno was swooning. Methinks the Bachelor is safe for one more week.

Chad Ochocino spends too much time macking and not enough time dancing. Daddy Mack gotta impress the fans and judges more than impressing Cheryl Burke. I actually think Pamela Anderson is a genius. Maybe not in the academic sense, but how she understands characters and can play the part quickly and flawlessly. And she can dance.

Niecy Nash, you funny for real, but your time is getting close. Perhaps Week 5 will be it unless Kate Gosselin rightfully goes home.
