Have you been keeping up with the behind the scenes footage of the creation of Alien Ninja? In Part 10, the cast and crew are now in Hawaii and filming on location at Secret Island.

What happens if the Alien Ninja production crew need extras during the filming? Would they ask picnickers if they want to join the fun? If they did, it might look something like this…

Problems with My Digital Plan

My digital plan has hit some snags already. Several people I talk to say go bigger. Go for the 50+ inch screen. Main hangup with this is the obvious cost. Most of the decent 52-in LCD screens start right at $2000, $400 more than the 46-in variety.

After measuring out the dimensions of the set, it’ll be somewhat similar to the space of my current picture tube TV. Good enough I say and besides, soon something better, bigger, and cheaper will be out there so why spend top dollar now?

After deciding to stick with the Samsung LN46A530, I went to pick one up from Costco. Even though the set is a moderate size, the packing box is huge! Too huge for my SUV. Got to go back with the minivan.

Don’t get me started about the TV stand…

Who knew Dancing with the Stars contestant Lance Bass who is gay would cause a stir with his performance kiss of star partner Lacey Schwimmer? The music choice of Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl is stirring the pot even more.

Mark Ballas Betrayed by the Butt

Reigning Dancing with the Stars champ Mark Ballas won’t be getting back-to-back mirrorball trophies. He and his booty-licious partner Kim Kardashian were eliminated after three underwhelming performances. Everyone, including the judges, expected so much from Kim, but she and her assets just couldn’t deliver.


Mark’s dad, Corky Ballas, continues on in the competition with his spunky, 82-year old star, Cloris Leachman.

Miami Heat Getting High Tech

New Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra is trying out some high tech hijinks to connect to his younger players. Instead of using the traditional 300-page play book, Spoelstra rebuilt the playbook for the iPod Touch. The Touches also contain video playback from last year to compare against.

Too bad Shaq wasn’t still with the Heat. I can see him distributing his latest music or movie venture to his teammates’ Touches.

Too Much Dancing with the Stars

Season seven of Dancing with the Stars is in its second week, and there are still too many performers with 11 couples remaining. Already in Week 1, we saw two stars eliminated with Jeff Ross (damn, no more Edyta!) and Ted McGliney going home.

Here’s my quick rundown so far. Toni Braxton has heart disease but is out there with solid performances. No wow (yet) though. Rocco DiSpirito has been hit or miss. His time is up soon. Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer have fresh choreography, but can they win over traditionalist Len Goodman? Here’s an example of their interesting perspective with their paso doble this week to Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl. I like it!

Maurice Greene is having fun but is mid round material at best. Mother of four, Brooke Burke, is still wild on. She looks great in every sense and is the clear leader for this season. Kim, Cloris, and Susan have all got to go. Soon. Cloris Leachman is painfully entertaining – let’s leave it at that. Susan Lucci will not win this year’s competition. Kim Kardashian continues to be a tease on the dance floor with everyone’s expectations so high with Kim unable to deliver. Here is Kim’s unhot mambo from Week 1 to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back.

Youngster Cody Linley must be getting his jollies with Julianne Hough slinking all over him. Can he overcome the distraction of his hormones? Olympian Misty May-Treanor looks frightening at times but has the right physical and mental attributes. Warren Sapp surprises me with his joviality. Would never have thought this NFL Pro Bowler was not a meanie. His Matrix-like paso doble with Kym Johnson this week was pretty mean though.

Virtually Experience the Apple Store Waikiki Opening

No, I didn’t brave the long line and hours awaiting the grand opening of the latest Apple Store in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki. But it’s almost like I didn’t have to with Ryan Ozawa’s great coverage of the event. He’s got pictures and videos starting from his 3am start time in line.


Thanks Ryan! If only I had an Apple Royal Hawaiian tee shirt then this virtual experience would be reality.

Even though Barack Obama’s a Punahou graduate, this Iolani alum has to give props to this shirt sold at Prototype in Pearlridge.
