2005 Grammy Nominations

Rapper Kanye West and pop singer Mariah Carey lead this year’s Grammy nominations with eight each. Mariah’s up for album of the year with her Emancipation of Mimi and song of the year with We Belong Together. Kanye is also up for album of the year with Late Registration and song of the year with Gold Digger.

John Legend, a Kanye West protege, also received eight nominations.

I guess being at the Grammy nominations was one of the reasons why Mariah cancelled her Hawaii concert dates.

"Podcast" is the Word of the Year

The editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary have selected “podcast” as the Word of the Year for 2005. Podcasts are like radio broadcasts that you download from the Internet and listen to on your computer or your music player like an iPod.

Other Word of the Year contenders were:

  • persistent vegetative state
  • reggaeton

Spotted at Ala Moana

Went to Ala Moana this past Sunday where there was lots to see.

The Rain. Where did this downpour come from? The drainage system was backed up and water was even shooting out of the drains! Outside of Barnes & Noble was flooded. Add some lights and music and you’d get the fountain at Bellagio. Check out the lower parking level – flooded.

Dawnie. Ran across Dawnie who’s now putting criminals in jail and would have no problems going up against Shaun in court. Shaun, she said she’d own your butt. Great catching up.

Santa. Jolly old St. Nick was there posing for pictures.

Google Users Are Wealthier?

According to a recent survey,

U.S. residents who prefer Google’s search engine tend to be richer and have more Internet experience than those who primarily use competing search services from Microsoft, Yahoo, and America Online.

I don’t know, but this seems like a ploy to drive Google stock to $500 a share! But if you need some extra cash this Holiday season, switching to Google ain’t going to hurt.
