After getting the little iPod Nano with its 2-inch screen, I began to feel inadequate. Only two inches!?! So I had to compensate and had to go big. I’m talking Viagra big. I’m talking Viagramax big (or whatever else “magic pills” is advertised in junk mail). I went for the full 24 inches! 24-inches of computing power in Apple’s latest iMac that is.
This guy is huge.

So how does video look on the third generation iPod Nano’s little screen? Pretty darn good! I was pretty skeptical about watching videos on this thing and wanted the Nano more for its compatibility with the Nike+ Sports Kit, but the screen is definitely watchable.

Fed up with my faltering first generation iPod Shuffle, I finally made the leap and bought a third generation iPod Nano.

The foam covering for my Shuffle’s earbud is ripping! Can’t have that now can we? It’s time for an upgrade. Might as well get a little video and support a worthy cause at the same time. 😉
Yes, early adopters of the hot iPhone were in for a shock Wednesday when Apple reduced the iPhone price by $200. The $599 8GB model was reduced to $399, and the 4GB model was outright eliminated (but still available at $299 while supplies last).
So users of the two-month old iPhone were obviously upset at the quick price reduction. Fans of Apple have come to expect this kind of sudden change but even this reduction so soon was surprising.
What does Apple do? It does something just as surprising to continue the company’s good karma. Steve Jobs is giving $100 back (in Apple Store credit) to iPhone buyers. With iPhone sales nearing one million units sold, $100 back for each of these comes out to a whopping $100M given back to customers. Yes, Apple is still making a lot of money from iPhone sales, but the point is they didn’t have to do anything at all.
Good move Apple.

Of course, these images of a possible new iPod Nano could be fake, but something iPod related is coming out this Wednesday. Previous images of the possible 3rd Generation Nano made the device look fat and chunky.
But this image makes the iPhat look downright phat! Or at least Photoshopped.

Apple may be having a special event in early September to perhaps introduce new products, quite possibly new iPods. The event could happen on Wednesday, September 5 where the iPod family could be shaken up. The new iPods could feature full front screens, run OS X, and use flash memory instead.
A new Nano might go fat (I’ll call it the iPhat) though I’m not sure why this fat form factor. I guess the current Nano screen is too tiny to watch movies so the iPhat might be the answer for that?
My main question is will these new iPods qualify for Apple’s Major in Mac promotion currently on-going through September 16. You know the one where you buy a Mac and receive credit for a new iPod. So lucky buyers could get the new iMac (along with the new iLife ’08) and an iPhat. Now that’s a phat deal!
If you ever stepped into an Apple Store, then it’s no surprise that Apple appeals to the young. The store is filled with teenie boppers using the demo iPods, Macs, and now iPhones. In fact, if you want to try out a Mac on display, you’d probably have to kick some kids off who are updating their web site or playing games.
One funny note, while walking outside the Ala Moana Apple Store, I heard teens say that’s the “iPod” store.

Thinking about a setup of an 20-in iMac dual screened with a 20-in Cinema display and another setup of a PowerMac connected to a Studio Display. Then the old PowerMac G4 with failing power supply can be retired.
Oh, that education promotion sale is still going… free iPod Nano… $99 off of a printer. Get the new iLife ’08 with the new iMac. Sweet deal (if I proceed).
