Agnes’ Bakery Is Tough
Agnes’ Bakery in Kailua is one tough bakery! These pictures are old but shows the resiliency of this local business. After a car crashed through one of the bakery’s walls, they opened the next day without missing a beat. And they did it with a sense of humor.
This tough local bakery makes some pillowy soft pastries though. Be sure to go early or pre-order your goodies so you don’t leave empty handed.
The DQ Is Coming to the Windward Side
Dairy Queen or “the DQ” if you’re hip is coming to the Windward side. Sharing space with Orange Julius, you can expect to see this duo in Windward Mall soon enough.

And yes, this does mean that the Froyo Wars has another casualty by the name of Yogen Fruz. Yogen Fruz was in the battle for quite a long time, and I guess its Smoothie candy strategy didn’t alter its fate.
Most Viewed Pulpconnection Posts Written in 2012
Okay, I’m a little bummed that the popular posts for Pulpconnection in 2012 were posts written before 2012. So what were the highlights that actually actually transpired in 2012? The top ten for 2012 looks like this.
- Buyer Beware the TVPad
- I Want to Draw the Linsanity!
- Belkin Grip Candy Sheer Black and Green
- Making Sense of Your iPhone 5 Order Status
- Vote for Vawer!
- iOS 6 Install Frozen?
- iPhone 5 Screen Flicker Problem
- Thunder and Lightning Olympic Jordans
- Dwyane Wade, Why Are You Leaving Team Jordan?
- It’s Winter Online!
Yeah, pretty tame stuff so I can see how these posts didn’t rate highly against my older material. I mean how can iPhone 5 problems, a complaint with the TVPad, and news from the house of Jordan compete against Hawaiian slang, a ghetto latte, Abercrombie & Fitch, LEGOs, Club 939, Taylor Lautner, and a moose knuckle?
Now, I don’t know if there is a correlation between posts and revenue earned from ads on Pulpconnection. But here’s a comparison for this past year. The number of posts is indicated by the green bars while advertising performance is the red line.
I don’t spot a trend, but I like what happened in October. For the month with the least amount of posts, it looks like my second highest earning month. I need to look into this, early Christmas shopping perhaps?

Better LEGO at Toys R Us
Over the holidays, the LEGO Store at Ala Moana was wiped out of the good stuff. They received the new 2013 sets right before Christmas, and accordingly, shoppers went on a brick-buying frenzy. There is some new stuff left but not much. Instead, I was surprised at the selection available at Toys R Us. I found all the sets I’d want, including the brand new Chima line that releases on January 1, 2013.
I missed out on getting Batman’s Tumbler, but this set makes up for it!

The new Chima sets are supposed to release on the first of the new year, but seemingly, they’re already out.

I don’t want a full-on AT-AT walker, so this is a nice, cheap alternative… with Yoda too!
So if you’re looking for a post-Christmas LEGO buy, check out Toys R Us.
Happy New Year!
After ringing in the New Year with Pop-Its, this trio of LEGO minifigures starts off Series 9 in 2013.

Not a bad start to my Series 9 collection. I don’t know why but the chicken suit guy makes me laugh.
LEGO X-Men Was Hot Yesterday
Not sure why but my LEGO X-Men post was hot yesterday, bringing in a lot of views. Here are Pulpconnection’s popular views for Thursday, December 27, 2012.

Kinda curious what triggered this spike (leading to 911 total views yesterday).
Merry Christmas 2012
Merry Christmas to all the pulpy readers out there enjoying the holiday season. As Pulpconnection tradition, I’d be remiss if I didn’t show my favorite Christmas gift prank video of all time! This is a classic that’s approaching 15,000 views. Reminisce with me, and you’ll agree that was one cruel prank!

While that video is full of awesomeness, here’s an awesomer Christmas bonus for 2012. There is a lesson within so watch and learn…
