Crepuscular Rays at Portlock
Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to watch the sunset from Portlock in Hawaii Kai. Here’s the view that includes crepuscular rays.

So it’s been years since you bought your Bowflex adjustable weights, but you didn’t get the pricey stands for these weights. Sure the cardboard box the weights came in were a decent makeshift stand. They’re strong enough and heck, they are “free.”
But the boxes are short, making you forget about proper form when getting the weights, and your back is now suffering. They are simple rectangular shapes without any toe clearance, and you’ve kicked the box enough times to wear away the cardboard base, making the box unsteady.
Don’t be a cheapskate, straining your back to save a few bucks. Just buy the stands already.
On the radio this morning, I heard that T.J. Maxx is hiring workers for it Hawaii location. Wasn’t this discount store in Hawaii before? I thought it was by the Stadium where Office Max is now located?
Anyways, Maxx is coming back and will be opening shop in Pearl City. Wonder if the store will carry cheap, outlandish kicks like these pink TL2s I almost got from Marshalls?
Both you and I know that @abaggy is an accomplished and savvy traveller. He’s already been there and done that, so to spice up his journeys, I pose scavenger hunts for him. He did well in Vegas but now on to his next mission. Can he get Schweddy Balls?
Since Ben and Jerry’s Schweddy Balls are new to the market, they haven’t yet made their journey across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii. This mission is singly focused: @abaggy must get Schweddy Balls on his side of the Pacific.
Available at the end of September is the new Hawaii’s Ohana Cookbook. Here’s what you can expect from this collection of local recipes:
There are time-saving dishes created by working moms and dads so other families can have an easier time finding that special balance between work and play.
If you look good, you’ll see a contribution or two from Wokintime, now known as The Unseasoned Wok. You can get a copy from the Mutual Publishing store location or order one through the mail.
Don’t want to dwell on this bittersweet moment too much but good luck to Sara and Ryan on their NYC and Japan adventure.
Life awaits! Â No regrets.
Cheers!
Need to skedaddle around Kailua town? While it is a nice walk in the area, you’ll need help traveling a farther distance. But help is right around the corner. Check out these new bicycle rental stations located by Fat Boys and Boots & Kimos.

For 30 minutes, use of the bikes are free and costs $2 for the first hour. You can find out more about the bike-rental kiosks from the Star Advertiser article.
As the eventual end of the Borders empire looms, there’s a lot of activity and shopping underway. And it’s not just books but everything within the store walls that’s being sold. Here are some pictures from the Windward Mall location and some of the memorabilia I picked up.
Here’s what the inside of the store looks like. Panorama created by 360 Panorama. Be sure to pan and zoom around.

If you upgraded to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, you might have noticed an irritating bug, especially if you’re a mobile user. While on the go, you may see this error message pop up quite often.
It reads “There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type “file:” are not supported”. Not too helpful for troubleshooting, right? Seems like the culprit is Time Machine in Lion, and this issue has been captured in several Apple Support Communities:
One fix is to reset Time Machine following these basic steps. Or this doesn’t irritate you that much, you can wait for an update to Lion and hope Apple squashes this bug.
