The Actor and a Pirate
To round out Series 8 of the LEGO minifigures, I think I’ll end with the Actor and the Pirate Captain. I’m missing three from the entire set but got the ones I wanted.

Ho’okipa means hospitality, not cravable in the Hawaiian language. But these Ho’okipa sunglasses from Maui Jim are surely cravable in Hawaii (and other lands). All three colored lenses (bronze, grey, and rose) bring something different to the line.
While Maui Jim products are not eligible for Macy’s coupons and sales, if you buy two sets of sunglasses at Sunglass Hut in Macy’s you get $40 off a second pair. So use your Macy’s coupons on the first pair, then get $40 your MJ’s.
Of course, you can always shop at Amazon but without trying them on, comparing them with other sunglasses, getting serviced by staff, and getting them fitted.
Got a few more additions to my LEGO Minifigure Series 8 collection.
So far, Santa has been the hardest one to get, probably since he’s in high demand with Christmas coming up. For the DJ, feel for his round record. The alien female is the only one in Series 8 with the “skirt” piece. The bat dude should be easy to find because of his winged arms, but I lucked out on picking him.
Are you ready to learn new math starting on October 19? First lesson is New Division. Season 3 of Nikita begins on the CW, Friday, October 19.
Can you now email from iCloud.com? Did you check to see if your me.com and mac.com email addresses got its third evolution of @icloud.com?
Log into Mail at www.icloud.com. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of Mail. Select Preferences then go to Accounts. In the middle of the Accounts screen, do you see something like this?
If you see an address with icloud.com, you’re all set. Send a test email to your account @icloud.com to verify it’s working.
Got these Nike Air Max Trainer 1.3 from Nike’s online clearance section. I can live with the dark grey/varsity red colorway at a major discounted price.
Only thing is these shoes make my feet hot. They don’t ventilate well, and I guess that’s why Nike sells the Trainer 1.3 Breathe version.
It’s only a matter of time before more and more cases for the iPhone 5 hit the market. To provide basic protection in the meantime, I picked up the Belkin Grip Candy Sheer Case in the Gravel/Reflection (Teal/Silver) color scheme. Best Buy has some iPhone 5 cases in stock from a variety of vendors: Belkin, Speck, In Case, Griffin Technology, Incipio, Otterbox, and a few more. But I like the simplicity of this basic Belkin case.
I would have preferred the black/green color combo, but that’s currently unavailable. The case I bought doesn’t have the Belkin logo dots on the back, bottom right corner.
Here are pictures of this case on a black iPhone 5. Yes, the case looks more dramatic on a white iPhone, but it don’t look bad on the black.
With the new Lightning connector for the iPhone 5, my five year old iPod Nano has new life. In order to listen to tunes while driving, I need the Nano and its old school dock connector.
Looks like I’ll be buying a bunch of Lightning cables and accessories in the near future.
If you need more Mountain Dew in your blood stream, Costco sells 24-oz size bottles in a 24 pack. That’s a whopping 576 oz of caffeinated Mtn Dew for you! Great for a hot day at the beach. Look for them in the paper goods section?!
So I’ve been having a weird issue or two with my new iPhone 5. Here’s an oddity with the Mail app in iOS 6. Check out the screen shot. How do I compose a new email?
That’s correct. The “compose email” button in the bottom right corner is missing! Odd… A quick screen rotation brings the button back, but it shouldn’t be missing in the first place. This oddity isn’t consistent either. It comes and goes.
After iOS 6 crashed twice on my iPhone 5, I powered it off to settle things down. Then when powered back on, I got this weird screen flicker with an image of an iPhone reset superimposed. Oddly, the iPhone is working albeit with that extreme flicker.
Going to see if a software restore fixes this problem. Hope it’s not hardware related. Probably bachi for this.
More info. When I initially setup the iPhone 5, the restore from iCloud was a partial restore with only some of my apps installed. The phone said it was still restoring from iCloud hours after too. I’m not sure if I was hitting a limit for the number of app screens that was causing glitches.
What?! Is that right? Is my pre-ordered iPhone 5 out for delivery today? Looks like I’m going to have to change some plans. This has to be a mistake… or a trick?
Roll it Rick!
Ease up people, it’s a joke. Don’t worry, we’ll all get our iPhones soon enough. 🙂
