While some were lucky enough to have a date night to go check out The Lion King, my closest exposure to the production was this KHON snippet with Manolo Morales.

Caught a little bit of a Lakers pre-season game against the Clippers and couldn’t identify the Lakers point guard based on appearance. Number 5 looked like Tony Parker with that closely shaved head and stubbly facial hair.
Farmar’s game was improved too showing glimpses of Tony Parker with tough drives to the rim and nifty passes to teammates in the lane.
He still got goofy ears though.

For on-the-court appeal, Carmelo Anthony’s “M” line within the Jordan Brand is finally looking good. I thought previous M shoes looked chunky, but the upcoming Melo M4 is sleeker. And you can’t deny the stylings from the Air Garnett III when KG was still a member of Nike’s Fun Police.

The union of music with other industries continues with the partnership of the Spice Girls and Victoria’s Secret. The Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits will be available at Victoria’s Secret stores starting on November 13.
Don’t got a Victoria’s Secret like Hawaii? Then you’ll have to wait for the general release on January 15.

I had a brainfart and completely forgot about the results show for Dancing with the Stars. But on-line, I learned that boxer Floyd Mayweather was eliminated.
That means that three guys and only one gal have been eliminated. The ladies are going strong this year!

Have you been sampling the iTunes and Starbucks promotional Hand Picked Song of the Day? They are simply delectable!
For freebies, I was expecting mediocre stuff, but many of these songs are very, very good. You Picked Me by A Fine Frenzy, Emily King’s Moon, No One’s Gonna Love You by Band of Horses – all good stuff. And other songs are all solid picks.
Do yourself a favor and pick up some of these free delectable treats (but don’t hog them for yourself! Leave some for others to enjoy).
Dancing with the Stars was an enjoyable contrast featuring the aggressive paso doble and the romantic Viennese waltz. Like Head Judge Len Goodman critiqued previously, excellent dances feature opposites – fast versus slow, hard versus soft, dark versus light, and the paso and Viennese waltz provided just that. And surprisingly all the dancers responded with probably the best showing this season.
Mark Cuban and Kym Johnson came in last place with the judges’ scores but still managed a combined score of 22. Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas continue to impress getting the first perfect score this season. Many couples performed questionable lifts as pointed out by judge Carrie Ann Inaba who played the role of hardass, usually portrayed by Len Goodman. In contrast, Lenny was genny (generous) with his scores, overlooking point deductions on lifts, and giving out two 10s, one to Sabrinie and the other to Jennie.
Jennie Garth and Derek Hough were locked in with the intensity of the paso. Jane Seymour and Tony Dovolani were a picture of elegance. Floyd Mayweather and Karina were intense looking like Floyd was going to rip Karina’s leg off during the last spin. Mel B and Maksim are goofy together which makes them comfortable on the dance floor. Cameron Mathison and and Edyta were super in their Superman routine. Marie Osmond and Jonthan keep engaging the crowd while Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough revved their waltz with Xanadu-like feathery feel.
The music was awesome with contrasting music, putting ballroom dance against contemporary tunes. How’s this lineup of music?

Can’t wait for the new season of the UH Men’s basketball team. New coach, new system, some new players, and some old time favorites.
The Twilight Ohana gave the fans a first look at the men’s and women’s squads and the stats line for the scrimmage was interesting. Riley Luettgerodt leading the way with 17 points?! Will this be his breakout year?
Yao-hopeful Ji Xiang got one point and one board and is described by Head Coach Bob Nash as being “more athletic than one might think.” Hmmm…
Season starts on Friday, November 9 against the San Diego Torreros of the West Coast Conference. Here’s the rest of the schedule.
