Holiday Gift Guide: Alice and Olivia Bike
Target and Neiman Marcus are collaborating on 50 gift items this holiday season. Available starting tomorrow (December 1), these high fashion items are sure to sell well. If you’re not looking to purchase any of these items, I’d steer clear of Target on Saturday.
My 2012 Holiday Gift Guide pick would be this bicycle cruiser for a fun loving female.

My Be Like Barack Mini-vacation
Remember back in 2008 when Barack Obama vacationed in Hawaii? Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I had a “Be Like Barack Vacation” on a very miniscule scale. The day started early, picking up passengers, but we forwent the speeches due to the continued drowsiness of turkey’s tryptophan. Then our two-car caravan headed north to Laniakea Beach to see turtles.

Meals weren’t from the cuisine of Alan Wong’s but from the homestyle goodness of Paalaa Kai Bakery. I’d highly recommend the Snow Puffy.

Overpriced movies aren’t just at Ward, they’re everywhere though Wreck It Ralph was a great flick so I didn’t necessarily mind forking out $30. Hey, wait, what? Large bags of popcorn get free refills?!
There was no physical activity like working out, bodysurfing, shooting hoops, or golfing, but that didn’t stop us from getting a shave ice fix. Matsumoto’s was packed so next-door Aoki’s it was. The Sour Pucker was mine.

During our mini-vacation, there were no swanky dinners for us, but I thought the signage on the McDonalds was swankily cool.

So there’s my “Be Like Barack” eight-day vacation crammed into one weekend.
Adobo Dishes Must Not Photograph Well
It just must be that adobo dishes just don’t photograph well, and that’s why adobo spices don’t showcase finished dishes. Exhibit 1 is Noh’s racy Filipino Adobo Mix. Here is Exhibit 2, Mid Pac Foods Filipino Adobo Sauce.

Note the neighboring bottles that show pictures of char siu, spare ribs, and shoyu chicken. But no picture of pork or chicken adobo.
Can You Spot the Honu?
Can you spot the turtle sunning itself at Laniakea Beach (aka Turtle Beach)? Click on the image to enlarge.

“For all intensive purposes…”
Hold up, did I just see that phrase used seriously? Seriously?! “For all intensive purposes” – you know you’re in trouble when the Urban Dictionary has a definition.
Nonsense, it means nothing. Its what people say when they really mean to say “for all intents and purposes”.
Should I even care this erroneous phrase was used? It’s just a mute point right? 😉
“Girl on Fire” – Katniss or Alicia Keys?
The Hunger Games Catching Fire is filming in Hawaii showcasing Katniss Everdeen aka the “girl on fire.” Coincidentally, Alicia Keys has released her latest album called “Girl on Fire.”
Related or not? Not according to Ms. Keys.
Holiday Gift Guide: Hot Wheels Total Control Racer
In case you get the Hot Wheels Total Control Racing Stunt Park set, it comes with only one vehicle, and you’ll definitely need another to keep the peace with the kids. Finding the Racing Stunt Park on-island is doable, but finding extra cars is difficult. Target is out of stock, I don’t see any on the Walmart web site, and Toys R Us looks to have one car model available.
Amazon has a variety of Total Control Racers available to purchase to make this set more fun.
Confidence Is…
Since @abaggy is temporarily out of the loop, there’s no one to mancrush on. So instead, I’m turning my attention to someone else I’ll call Q-chi. What’s so great about Q-chi? It’s his confidence. He’s so confident that he leaves his classic iPod on his desk in plain sight even when he’s not around.

This shows that he’s confident with the security in the workplace, knowing no one will steal his prize. Or, he exudes confidence that no one will ridicule his use of this archaic iPod. But hey, who am I to talk? I still rock my old fat iPod Nano and Klondike!
Winter Oreos
The permutations of Oreo cookies are seemingly endless. The newest variation I’ve seen include red Winter and Candy Cane Oreos.

I wonder how these cookies would taste paired with a hot instant Oreo latte?
Amazon Prime Instant Video Disappointment
One of the draws of signing up for Amazon Prime is the free access to its catalog of streaming videos. Sadly, only after trying to troubleshoot why this wasn’t working with my Tivo box, did I find the answer. Amazon Instant instant videos don’t work with Tivo as stated in the FAQ.
At this time, Prime instant videos are only available for streaming and cannot be viewed on a TiVo box.
I’ve rented movies from Amazon in the past, and these movies have worked with my Tivo, just not these (free) Prime videos. Don’t know why, but it is disappointing.
