I Am Drawn to This
…but would never wear it… I think.

This Hoth crewneck is releasing on KITH starting on Monday, December 20, 2021 as part of their Star Wars collaboration. Actually, there are several interesting pieces in this collection.

All I have to say is Mtn Dew Flamin’ Hot and now you understand the title of this post. Can you imagine the sweeteness of Dew combined with the heat of Flamin’ Hot? I can’t and that’s why I need to try this new drink for myself.

Really, this drink combination sounds like a drinkable disaster in the making. But I need my mind blown with this drink before blowing out my stomach and butt.
The first day at the brand new Kith flagship location in Hawaii started not on the publicized opening day of Friday, August 20 (which is also Hawaii Admission Day) but rather on Thursday evening. All week, the excitement intensified after the formal accouncement was made that Hawaii would be the fourth US state to have a flagship store alongside New York, Florida, and California. So when rumors started circulating that the store would make an announcement at 9:30pm, it was time to head to Waikiki!

So while details about the grand opening were sparse, it was assumed that the Royal Hawaiian Center would not allow overnight camping. From other Kith store openings, it was known that they did a ticket/wristband system indicating customer entrance times. Other than those basic details, no one knew what to expect. And I suspect that Kith themselves didn’t know what to expect from the Hawaii population.
I also learned that even though there was a now-confirmed announcement at 9:30pm, no lines could form until then.

So instead of forming a line, people basically congregated around the store. No, they were not waiting for a lineup. Everyone was supposedly shopping and enjoying Waikiki – in front of the mall, on the inside of the mall, at the food court, across the street, and even in the Beachcomber hotel. That rumor must have traveled fast with so many people already there before 8pm.
The scene was chaotic, confusing, and exciting all at the same time. Security and information was light so there were definitely concerns. Supposedly the tickets given out would yield a random time wristband so it didn’t matter where in line you were. But to control the masses forming, security started a lineup around 9pm. There was a mad scramble to form a line as it started to extend down Kalakaua then snaked back. So if you weren’t already in Waikiki at 9pm when the line formed you were out of luck or faced a long wait ahead.

And yes, COVID is still a concern, but there was simply no way of social distancing this amount of people without the line extending to Ala Moana or beyond.
This first line was to get your number and time to come back later in the night for a wristband. Yes, there would be a second line up later in the night. I think I got my number at 10pm with a return time of 12:15am. This made for a long night but I got my number and wristband late at night.

Gonna cut this short with a few notes:
Went back to Kith Hawaii for a third day to see what non-AF1 shoes were available. Since almost everyone was buying the launch exclusive Air Force 1, most of the great sneaker selection upstairs was untouched. But… the line up at the entrance was full with wristbands up to 1000.
So instead, I sampled their adjoining Treats spot that I didn’t make it to previously.

As a bonus, today saw the launch of this new fruit-infused creamsicles.
I tried the lime just because I was curious what a tart creamsicle would taste like. It wasn’t my favorite combination, but the lime flavors did stand out. And fresh lime was definitely used with my ‘sicle hiding a thin but tough rind that I mistook for a wrapper or paper. I asked the workers about odd object and they examined it and yes, it was organic lime. They replaced the creamsicle, so I got a mango one instead wanting a sweeter flavor. Yeah, mango is a better match. Overall, good authentic fruity creamsicle but even better customer service!

Travis Scott is just playing mind games at this point. Around 7am HST, his site launched clothing and merchanise. One hour later, I’m still in queue to checkout.

I know all those items are out of stock, but that checkout queue is/was seriously busted.
But…
If you try to buy other pre-order items, Hawaii residents will most likely get this warning.

In that particular cart, I had shorts. But if you buy a single tee (or a cap), it does ship to Hawaii using USPS at $5.90. However, if you only want these lighter-weight items, then buy them individual up to $40 in total shipping because if you have two tees in cart (for example), shipping changes to UPS at $40.

So you could buy six individual light items can still be below the multicart checkout shipping rate.
Now the big question is – if a Hawaii resident wins the Travis Fragment AJ1 Low, will these heavy items ship to Hawaii?
Please stop trolling Hawaii residents, Mr. Scott.
Just for a measure of good luck, Iām sharing the first episode that introduces the upcoming Off White take on the classic Dunk.
Via Nike? SNKRS:
Thanks to a random email from Wordgenius, I got a better understanding of the definitions for road, drive, street, lane, boulevard, avenue, and a few more cartographic terms. While there are differences, I’m not sure if we adhere to the guidelines of these terms. Avenues run perpendicular to streets?
My dad’s television was on and tuned into HI*Sessions, showcasing local musical talent. I wasn’t really paying attention until I saw this interesting looking group.

Is that guy strumming a violin? Is that other dude playing the cello standing up? Wait, is that an accordion? And the guitarist has a snazzy hat! So I asked social media who these guys were and in no time, I was told this group is Streetlight Cadence who attended HPU and performed at the Ala Moana Center Stage. I’m still finding out more about this interesting group while listening to Roger’s Song.
My next running shoe started with this IG post.
Finding this shoe wasn’t that straightforward since it’s not widely available. It was sold out on Brooks, and Dicks Sporting Goods would charge shipping to Hawaii. But a Google search found this available on Zappos, and Zappos offers an educational discount. Yes, kinda expensive, but I haven’t had recent luck with Nike running shoes.
The React Infinity Run 2 has been a disappointment in its second rendtion. The very first React Run was absolutely great but another colorway oddly wasn’t as good. I returned the Pegasus 38 since it was nothing special. Most recently, I got theĀ Invincible Run, but that foam stack feels so unstable. It’s extremely cushioned but I get the sensation that I could topple over merely walking in them.
So I’m gonna give these Brooks Aurora-BL a chance based on this performance review and hope this Brooks combination of design, tech, and materials is right for me.
I saw the tear but couldn’t remember the old TV commercial so I had to look it up. It’s for Keep America Beautiful.
Now with a URL!
Kanye West’s creative control of a GAP collaboration is almost upon us as teased by the launch of this web page.

Seemingly a signup form to be notified when products matching your specifications become available, but what if the form were a form of a combination. Maybe picking the right Top, Bottom, Shoe, and Hat size unlocks early access to the YZY line?
Here are your options:
I’m thinking that’s 1 out of 9600 to get the right “combination” (if there were one, who knows?). If you don’t guess the combo, your consolation prize is the option to buy a $200 round jacket.

How I underestimated the power of the Army. I mean really it’s Chicken McNuggets, fries, a drink, and two new dipping sauces. But it’s not. It is the BTS meal at McDonalds… and this meal features a special paper bag… and possibly a $1 price tag… and the Army of BTS.

The meal appeared on the lunch menu within the app but when I actually went to order, I got this instead.

Yes, unavailable… on launch day. Must be an app glitch right? I drove down to the nearest McD and saw these promising signs.

So I went to place my order on the kiosk but what’s this?! Out of stock.

I tried asking the workers about the meal but didn’t get far. They said I had to use the app to order the “BTL” meal and that they could not ring up the order to get the (promotional) pricing (whatever that is). Not gonna lie, I was somewhat upset about the overall experience and confusion over McNuggets, fries, and a drink.
As a consolation, I asked for the new sauce and got Cajun.

And while the Cajun sauce looks like nacho cheese, it does pack some heat.
Did you have any success finding the BTS x McD meal? How much did it cost?
