Brown Wednesday Before Black Friday?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are well established in our shopping lexicon but what about shopping for the deals before then? What are those days called? Brown Wednesday? Grey Tuesday? Anyways CVS née Longs Drugs has started their specials, and I had to partake since I was tipped off.
These Tiger Sahara Cool stainless steel insulated water bottles are going for 50% off as a buy one, get one free deal. Either the 0.8L or 1.0L capacity in green or pink ($32.99 for 0.8L and $34.99 for 1.0L). Can’t go wrong for roughly $17 each. Grab bag gift perhaps?
Kahala Starbucks Drive Thru
It’s getting there. I’m not sure when the new Starbucks Drive Thru in Kahala Mall is supposed to open, but it might beat the end of 2014. I thought this new store was going to be more in the corner of the Kahala Mall parking lot, but it’s on the side of the mall.
And according to the Pacific Business News, this location is only a drive thru. You can’t walk up and order a drink. That’s kinda too bad since the inside Starbucks location is typically swamped, and a second location would offer some relief.
Holiday Gift Guide 2014: APL Vision Basketball Shoes
Banned in the NBA for providing players with an undue competitive advantage, you may see shoes made by Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) on the neighborhood courts. Outfitted with APL’s special Load ‘N Launch technology, these kicks supposedly give you more hops. I’m not talking Spud Webb springs but hey, if your dream is to jam one home, then maybe the Load ‘N Launch is the missing piece.
According to the company’s FAQ, the average increase in jumping ability is 3.5 inches. An added 3.5 inches to your vertical ain’t nothing to ignore. Perhaps you can be like 5-5 tall Porter Maberry, throwing’em down in APLs.
Check out the APL basketball and now running shoes this holiday season.

Consumed by Hearthstone
Ooops, sorry, posting here has been light over the past week since I’ve been consumed with Hearthstone. Made by Blizzard, this game is just too addictive.
Signs of Hawaii: WE > i
Yup, grammatically correct with the plural of “we” being greater than the singular “I.” Okay, so strictly speaking, the “i” should be capitalized, but you get the reference being parodied.
Surge, It’s Been a Long Time
It’s been a long time since my last drink of Surge. Discontinued in the early 2000’s, Surge is now back (at least temporarily) for that retro caffeine kick with the OG recipe. It’s not a reboot or a new flavor. This is straight up Surge.
After 14 years, Surge is more fizzy than I remember. It’s still loaded with sugar, and it still uses the it’s-so-ugly-it’s-glorious logo in green and red. Yup, nostalgia is worth 230 calories.
A CPL Is Better Hot than Cold
After gagging on my first (icded) Starbucks Chestnut Praline Latte, my second experience with a hot CPL was much better. This drink is definitely better hot than cold. You can smell the spices and appreciate the scents accentuating the mild nutty flavors. And without a straw for this hot CPL, I wasn’t concerned about sucking up and gagging on a praline crumb sunken on the bottom of the drink.
So if you haven’t yet sampled the CPL, my suggestions is try it hot but still be wary of a wayward praline crumb. 🙂
Starbucks Dot Collection Also Online
Even if you peeked and saw the oodles of cups, mugs, and tumblers Starbucks is offering in its Dot Colleciton, there’s still more out there. You can see and buy them all online.

Holiday Gift Guide 2014: Carbon Fiber iPhone 6 Case
Getting a case for your iPhone is a somewhat complicated choice. Protection, weight, looks, feel, cost – there are so many variables to consider before making your pick. For example, take this awesome looking iPhone 6 case constructed out of carbon fiber. Made by Carbon Trim Solutions, this case is stylish in gloss or matte and affords great protection. But it does cost roughly $80. But just look at it, and the cost becomes more palatable.
Well, as a holiday gift, I surely wouldn’t complain upon receiving this unique-looking case. I’m leaning more towards the muted matte finish hint, hint.

Signs of Hawaii: No Thrashing
I really don’t know what to make of this sign other than thrashing must really be an issue. This sign was posted all over Simply Halloween, a seasonal store in Windward Mall with great discounts on Halloween-themed items.
To be honest, I don’t know what “thrashing” means in this context, and Urban Dictionary isn’t much help with their definitions. Whatever the case may be, just remember – NO THRASHING!
But now, I am curious what brought on all these signs. I shoulda asked one of the workers about this…
