I guess I really can’t complain because a ten percent discount is still a ten percent discount. Although I think the tax and bottling fees essentially negates that saved 10% off the $1.95 bottled water.

Ninja Warrior Filming in Hawaii?
I’ve never actually watched the televised challenges of those vying to be a ninja warrior, so I’m not familiar with the show, either the original Japanese version or the American one. However, it seems like Ninja Warrior is setting up for a shoot at the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Sorry, I don’t have any more details, but with the number of Japanese workers on set, I’m guessing this is for the Japan series.
Holiday Gift Guide 2014: Cat Paw Toy
As a non-cat person, I really don’t get this cat paw toy. Personally, this toy kinda creeps me out. But then again, I’m not a cat person. OR maybe I don’t understand the true meaning of this toy.
As a holiday gift, the receiver can figure out if this toy is what Anna Kendrick says it is.

Win Starbucks for Life Impossible Audio CAPTCHA
Wait, what was that again?
So if you’ve been entering the Win Starbucks for Life contest, you’ve experienced the CAPTCHAs getting harder and harder. In the first few days, the image-based CAPTCHAs used to verify your contest entry were of one group of numbers like an address on a house.
Today, the CAPTCHAs evolved to two words, not just one grouping of numbers, and one of the words is usually gibberish. Not only is one word gibberish, the look is so distorted that it’s really hard to discern the letters. So I switched to the audio mode of the CAPTCHA. The system reads aloud a set of numbers, and you have to type in those numbers. Sounds easier right? Here’s the audio CAPTCHA I was given.

I Must Be Slipping
I pretty much don’t have pictures from Black Friday at Ala Moana. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have any caffeine coursing through my veins not wanting to wait in this ridiculously long line at Starbucks Macy’s.

Yup, grammatically correct with the plural of “we” being greater than the singular “I.” Okay, so strictly speaking, the “i” should be capitalized, but you get the reference being parodied.
Surge, It’s Been a Long Time
It’s been a long time since my last drink of Surge. Discontinued in the early 2000’s, Surge is now back (at least temporarily) for that retro caffeine kick with the OG recipe. It’s not a reboot or a new flavor. This is straight up Surge.
After 14 years, Surge is more fizzy than I remember. It’s still loaded with sugar, and it still uses the it’s-so-ugly-it’s-glorious logo in green and red. Yup, nostalgia is worth 230 calories.

What Happened to Family Feud?
While waiting for a car battery replacement, I had the luxury of watching Family Feud. What happened to this show??? Granted I really haven’t watched the show since the days of Richard Dawson and Ray Combs, but the questions and format had always been predictable. Today with Steve Harvey at the helm, the questions and answers were just weird. Okay, so Steve Harvey was masterful with the families especially the nervous family members (like Gemma, a professional “pot head” which is supposed to be a Filipino wedding dance of some sort).
Anyways, I digress. I forget the exact question, but it was something like, “What can typically be described as firm?” The answering family got the top three answers but struck out on naming the last two. The opposing family was going for a steal with an answer of “handshake.” I thought they had the steal, but no, they struck out as well. One of the remaining answers both families missed – “a chick’s boobs.” Okay, the answer may have been “a chick’s boobage,” but the answer definitely contained “chick’s.” Who and where does the show poll for answers?!?

Sanrio’s Kitty White aka Hello Kitty is turning 40 years old this year so a commemorative gift celebrating this milestone has to be these special Hello Kitty Beats headphones – $150 for the urbeats model or $250 for the solo2. As a holiday gift, either of these will visually and aurally excite any HK fan.
As a bonus, Costco’s Connection magazine has an informative article about the history of Hello Kitty. Did you know she (not a cat) lives in London and weighs about three apples?

Hilo Hattie Hibiscus Returned
The landmark of the huge red hibiscus of Hilo Hattie has been safely returned. That’s reassuring to know but makes me wonder.
The conspiracy theorists may think this was a devised plan because really, how does one simply steal a gigantic hibiscus?!?
Halloween 2014 Highlight #liehagi
The highlight of Halloween 2014 has to be this chance trick or treating encounter with local weather dude, Guy Hagi. This Hawaii News Now meteorologist gained some recent social media attention with the #liehagi meme poking fun at the inaccuracies of weather forecasting. But Guy took this ribbing in stride and owned #liehagi as this pic illustrates.
Guy and his group were trick or treating and happened upon a fellow costumed Halloween-er who was dressed as the #liehagi meme. Guy had to congratulate the guy and took a pic with his weather set. Awesome!
