Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Twerking
Because it’s Friday. Jay-Z mentions Miley Cyrus’ twerking in his new release Somewhereinamerica. Here’s a good run down provided by Business Insider (which I find an odd source of this info).

Ugh, OverDrive why do I believe you? I was bamboozled in 2010, but I figured after three years, things have to be better. Nope.
Clicking on the graphic on a computer works as expected. Now, try it on a mobile device like an iPad. Well you say, if OverDrive is involved then you need the OverDrive app. Okay, fine. I installed it and also authorized book downloads with an Adobe account. I selected the Hawaii State Public Library System as a library in OverDrive. I used my library card ID to log in. Clicking on the Disney Digital Book graphic, I’m welcomed with this message:
We’re sorry, but we are unable to display the page requested.
What?! Why? I called the Hawaii library and engaged them on Facebook and learned why. These books are in a proprietary Disney Online book format, not ePub or Mobi, and seemingly, this format requires Adobe Flash. And yes, Adobe Flash and Apple iOS devices don’t get along.
Okay, okay so maybe it’s not OverDrive’s fault and more Disney’s oversight using a non-standard eBook format. But still, my expectations are disappointed.
Out of the blue, Nike.com had a sale on clearance items where I found these Nike Air Max 1 Essentials. Already discounted, the sale took off an additional 20% so of course, it was a must buy. In black, grey, and orange, it’s easily wearable too.
But when I tried them on, I understood the “Essential” tag. I’ve noticed other designations on the Air Max 1 line – Premium, no designation, and Essential. I’m guessing the Essential model is at the bottom of the pecking order. Don’t get me wrong, these shoes were solidly built and were not “B grade,” but the materials were not of premium quality. The shoe itself felt a little stiff and not that comfortable. So while I loved the colorway and the price, this Essential wasn’t so, not making the cut, and easily returned to Nike.com.
Got a timeline to meet and counting on some deliveries. Putting my trust in USPS.
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
While the Post Office’s unofficial creed, I’m hoping they come through even with the Fourth of July holiday. I’ll even sanction off-roading if absolutely necessary.
No, Las Vegas doesn’t just simply call you or me. So if you receive calls from 702-815-7601, don’t answer. They’re bogus, but these telemarketers are relentless.

Is this purely coincidental? After spending hours looking up and learning about binoculars, I finally made my pick with Nikon Aculon A211 8×42. One day later, Amazon’s special deal is the Vanguard Endeavor ED Binocular (8×42). List price is $429.99, but as the Deal of the Day, they’re now $209.99 (51% off!). Now check this out, the company is offering a $50 rebate, making the final cost $159.99. Unlike the Aculons, the Vanguard Endeavors are water proof and fog proof and has received solid ratings and reviews.
The timing of this deal can’t be coincidental, can it?
Modern Nike Engineered Mesh molded to classic Air Max silhouettes? Yes, please to this mashup, but which ones, the AM90 Tianjin or Beaches of Rio?
The multi-hued grey combination is demurely alluring. Speckled midsole – Jordanesque. The Tianjin namesake on the tongue. Red flecks lacing the laces. Then the translucent Air Max bubble, in red – completes the shoe.
A distinct contrast from the dark Tianjins is the vibrant Beaches of Rio. Lively turquoise with citrus orange highlights. Yes, although both AM90s, the Rios and Tianjins look unrelated. Speckled midsole still there but no signature name on the tongue. The Air Max bubble is a light, bright blue.
Only one AM90 EM make would stick, the other returned. Which one? Seemingly I have a thing for greys as seen in previous buys. Maybe, too much grey in the current rotation. The Rios are summertime loud, a little outside of my style scope, but then this happened.
Thanks Agent P, decision made!
When you need to augment your peepers with something a little stronger – Nikon 8245 ACULON A211 8 x 42 Binocular (Black). A balance of good optics at an affordable price. Not waterproof/fog proof, but if it’s raining, I ain’t using it. Not compact but seemingly light weight enough to manage.
