The Cronut Lives on at Jack in the Box
Here I thought the cronut fad was dying down then I saw that Safeway still sold their renamed Croissant Donut. On top of that, Jack in the Box sells their Croissant Donuts which are supposedly good but messy.

With all the construction and renovation happening at Ala Moana, there are detours and alternate paths shoppers have to take. On one such path, I came across this, and it all made sense.
Don’t understand what I’m alluding to? Have you been to Ala Moana in recent history? The holiday shopping season of 2012 was pretty bad with four escalators out of commission, so please, no more playing with the escalator circuit breakers.
Of the 15,000 tourists coming to see the Arashi Blast in Hawaii concerts, majority are from Japan, but there are fans from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea. Interestingly enough, the iPhone 6 has yet to release in China. You think you might see a visitor or two from China waiting in line at an Apple Store before heading out to see Arashi?
Hopefully you don’t see Arashi-like lines at the Apple Store on Friday.
At lunch on Thursday, the AT&T store in Pearl City had a line forming for Friday’s launch of the iPhone 6. Okay, there was only one person in line but there were about five in line shortly afterwards.
In fact, this forming line drew the attention of the security guards who insisted those in queue were loitering, especially while waiting after business hours. I think the upshot is that the line had to form on public property, not the private property of the mall. Not sure what’ll happen when night falls.
So we’re not talking Arashi Blast lines, but there’s still a line. And AT&T does have cases for the 6 and 6+ in stock.
No, that’s not the line for the Apple Store at Ala Moana awaiting the iPhone 6. The lines of (female) fans outside of Shirokiya is Arashi related. I think the Arashi Blast ticket sales is over so I’m guessing the lines are for the pop-up store inside?? $100,000 in sales on the first day!?!
Good thing @yoda808 was there to capture these pics of lines for Arashi.
Before the big day meaning the Arashi Blast concert, not the iPhone 6 release, there are dedicated fans blasting pics of Arashi at Ala Moana.
But you know the pics would be better with an iPhone 6 or the optically image stabilized iPhone 6 Plus. Thanks to closet Arashi fan @yoda808 for the pic. 😉
If your electricity goes out on Friday or Saturday, you gotta blame the Arashi Blast concerts. With HECO already urging customers to cut back on consumption with the Kalaeloa plant out of commission awaiting parts and temperatures soaring above 90 degrees almost daily, you know the Arashi concert is going to push electrical demand near the red line when their gigantic stage goes live.
Over sixty feet tall, 280 feet wide, 13 HD screens, costing over $8 million to construct – you know this baby will suck up the juice. Not only that, but after the concert, overheated fans are going back to their hotel rooms and are most likely gonna crank up the AC to cool off from Arashi Blast.
Too bad sonic waves can’t be harnessed for power. All those screams and squeals from the fans would compensate.
Truthfully, I didn’t see this one happening but draw the curtains on IHOP at Windward Mall since they’re now closed.
Okay, IHOP isn’t known for fine dining, but they are a well known breakfast chain and being the only place open in Windward Mall in the mornings, I thought that would be all the advantage they’d need. I guess I was wrong. Luckily, Big City Diner is scheduled to move in and open in 2015.
I’m always leery of phone cases that are available before the phones themselves, but if I were to get an iPhone 6 case right away, I’d get the Spigen Neo Hybrid Metal, specifically in Metallic Blue. It looks grippy and stylish enough. My main concern with this case is the back cutout for the Apple logo. I’m thinking gunk and dust can get in via this opening.
Unfortunately, other Neo models without the cutout are available but not in the bright blue. Cost is reasonable though prices do vary depending on colors.
While you’re stuck in traffic, take a look around at the surrounding cars. See more than your normal share of American muscle car convertibles? Seemingly the vehicle of choice for Hawaii tourists, I’m guessing the influx of visiting fans for the upcoming Arashi Blast in Hawaii concerts has snapped up all convertible rentals.
So take a look around and spot those cars with the top down, GPS on the dash, pale skin passengers taking all kinds of pictures, and possibly blaring Arashi tunes!
Okay, okay, the image doesn’t depict your typical Hawaii tourist but it’s Ariane so I had to include this pic!
After an extremely busy 2014 as the most overexposed model of the year, even Ariane needs to slumber…in an Inspiration advertisement.
